  1. My favorite part. We're Cardinal fans and we go to Walmart! That's the part that made me think it was actually satire.
  2. How'd you do in the lottery though?
  3. Yep. It's gonna take me a while to fully invest in hockey this year. I hate to sound like a spoiled fan but yeah. I'll get invested in January when its cold outside and nothing to do. Hopefully they will be better by then.
  4. On the bright side...
  5. Being outshot 35-20...had a 70 second span where we committed 3 penalties and the third happened right as we scored so we kept the 2 man advantage. It's just one game but there will probably be growing pains with this team
  6. How much you want for that code? :)
  7. If anyone wants to watch the game again or particularly the 9th inning: [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]
  8. I keep forgetting with all this Cubs madness going on. I've barely watched the preseason. Anyone want to help me with projected lines/pairings, or some insight into who to be excited about based on the play in camp?
  9. Seriously, but that said blog commenting and the twitterverse are definitely more common ways to discuss a sports team these days than a forum. The message board format is somewhat outdated it seems. Anyways, McCovey Chronicles is a great blog and reading their game thread from last night was fun.
  10. i hate you!! This brings my lottery record to 0-6 Didn't you get free tickets off a Twitter contest or something? You don't get to complain about that :-" I just take every lottery rejection as a personal slight by the Cubs, and those slights are adding up! You are right though I shouldn't complain but dammit I want some butters luck. Probably a reward from the Cubs for giving us so many Game Thread victories last year.
  11. Just for fun, the likely rotations for both teams if everyone pitched on 4+ days rest Nationals: G1 Sat: Roark G2 Sun: Gonzalez G3 Tue: Scherzer G4 Wed: Ross G5 Thu: Roark G6 Sat: Gonzalez G7 Sun: Scherzer A bit scary having Scherzer waiting for a game 7 that I assume we will never have to play, but winnable first 2 games, very winnable game 4 and the comfort of facing Gio in game 6 if necessary. Obviously this is assuming Strasburg isn't healed by Tim Tebow before the series, and why would he help out a division rival? As for the Dodgers: G1 Sat: Madea G2 Sun: Kershaw G3 Tue: Hill G4 Wed: ??? Urias?? G5 Thu: Madea G6 Sat: Kershaw G7 Sun: Hill I feel more comfortable facing Kershaw away from Dodger Stadium so would be good if both starts are at Wrigley. The thought of facing Rich Hill in a possible Game 7 at Wrigley is insanely awesome.
  12. You can only be selected once according to their email. I got picked for the NLDS (but tickets were sold out by the time I got in) and just got picked again for NLCS so that doesn't seem to be correct i hate you!! This brings my lottery record to 0-6
  13. I just got a rejection email Edit: And a second and a third
  14. The other 3 were within 5 days of each other in the 1986 playoffs. Yep, both by the Mets. One in the NLCS and the other was the Buckner game. Damn that 1986 playoffs must have been insane to follow as a fan.
  15. I will say the argument of 'you shouldnt enjoy winning the world series if you do because we've won more' is still much better than the White Sox Interactive argument "you shouldn't enjoy the world series unless you go 11-1 like we did that one time we won one over the last 99 years"
  16. Hmmm....this is very shitty if true: http://wgntv.com/2016/10/12/expect-to-pay-a-lot-for-cubs-nlcs-tickets/
  17. Like cyber attacks or just trolls? cyber attacks. I don't think we saw any trolls post. Well except our own.
  18. What are the others? The last one was Game 5 of the 1986 ALCS between the Red Sox and Angels. Not sure about the other 2.
  19. Does anyone want to guess what the all-time record is for a team trailing by 3 heading into the 9th of a postseason game?
  20. I just want to point out that when the Cubs took the lead, my wife watched me celebrate and said 'geez, you probably enjoyed that more than the birth of our kids'. So...I guess I was right.
  21. In my delirium last night, I didn't even realize the count on Baez's hit. It wasn't till I was showing the recording of the 9th to my son this morning that I realized it....what a terrible pitch. I was fully expecting it to be in the dirt or at eye level.
  22. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/gamefeed?game_pk=487610&type=exit_velocity&chart_type=sbp&inning=&count=&batter_hand=&pitcher_hand=&filter= Interesting/fun stuff here. xBA of every meaningful ball in play that inning: Bryant: .600 Zobrist: .647 Contreras .214 Javy .345
  23. Sorry if this was posted already: [tweet]https://twitter.com/cwbchicago/status/786046902361952256[/tweet] CPD sent home mounted horse officers in the 9th inning. Even CPD didn't believe in the Cubs!
  24. I can't get over how awesome this is. How many times in our lives have we watched a Cubs game where the Cubs trailed by multiple runs late and thought 'well maybe we can do this, but everything has to go perfect'. On some occasions the Cubs have succeeded, but think about how many times we got the leadoff guy on, the next batter is up 3-1 in the count and you are starting to believe, only to see liner right to fielder/groundball that is not quite close enough to getting through/chase ball 4/foul popup that almost gets out of play but doesn't. So many rallies we've seen die after getting our hopes up, we even use the term 'fake rally' in here quite often. But you keep hoping and keep believing that it's possible because one time something like this happens and Bryants well hit grounder finds the perfect spot just past the SS, Rizzo lays off pitches he was chasing earlier in the series, Zo gets a hold of one down the RF line, Willy finds a hole up the middle, Heyward hits a terrible bunt that should have been a rally killing double play but instead ends up accomplishing what he was hoping for with the bunt, then Javy...0-2 count. You've seen this AB enough from Javy to know how it ends, but he's made his adjustments and instead of whiffing he puts the ball into play to score the winning run. Sorry for the verbal diarrhea, I'm just trying to put into words how amazing last night was.
  25. It has to be today then right? I mean Game 1 is Saturday. Announce today, purchase tomorrow.
