  1. Come on Kyle. Give up a hit to the pitcher and then kid rock. Not good form
  2. How many games was Bryant stuck on 99 RBI last year? 7? At some point in early September Bryant was on pace for like 117 RBI That was an awful AB...
  3. Javy deserved much better that AB. 12 pitch at bat with 3-4 hard hit foul balls including one that went 450 feet just foul. Finally lines one up the middle for an easy hit but it deflects off the pitcher right to the SS for an out.
  4. Dee Gordon homered to lead off Marlins first and was basically bawling around the bases. This is heart wrenching to watch
  5. Only the NL teams play on Saturday, so wouldn't the earliest game be about 5-6 CT? Then the second game like 7:30-8:30 CT? Last year the games started at 4:39 and 8:07 CT In 2014, 4:38 and 8:38 CT In 2013, 4:37 and 8:08 CT You are looking at LAD @ WAS and NYM/STL/SF @ Cubs. I'm guessing the Cubs will be the late game
  6. Feel like i've read that general trends in the weather can have a degree in accuracy (i.e. it's going to be cooler than average this week) up to 14 days out. But I'll let Truffle tell me how wrong I am.
  7. Still 12 days away but early look at weather on 10/7 and 10/8 Friday 10/7: 62/51, couple of showers possible Saturday 10/8: 66/44, mainly cloudy and even more into the future Thursday 10/13: 65/43, cloudy Maybe Georgie should sit, looks a bit chilly compared to last year where the highs for our 4 home games were 77, 64, 77, 77. (yes i'm very bored at work today)
  8. He PH, but I don't think he played the field. Could be wrong. pretty sure someone was just complaining about his "lack of effort (aka badness)" in the OF Whoops you're right and I even commented on that. So yeah, I'm sure he will get a couple of starts this week but you have to balance remaining sharp with not aggravating the injury.
  9. Didn't he play on Saturday? He PH, but I don't think he played the field. Could be wrong.
  10. This is wrong. The 2007 NLDS had a VWR, which is why I was able to get tickets to both NLDS home games and I can't remember if NLCS tickets went on sale but if they did I got at least one game. In 2008 they started the playoff ticket lottery, of which I was not selected for either the LDS or LCS (still went to game 1 after stalking their ticket site the day before the game). You're right, it was 07 I was remembering. I got tickets for game 4 which couldn't have been 08 since we had homefield that year. Maybe it sounds stupid but I liked the VWR. In the lottery method, you could be the biggest non-season ticket holding Cub fan on earth and you might be completely shut out unless buying through the secondary market. I understand the cons of the VWR (folks that maybe don't understand technology or the manipulation of the VWR had basically no shot. Scalpers probably ended up with 60% of the tickets by having a staff of 100 each have 300 VWR windows open), but I like it better than knowing my ticket fate is not in my hands. Would be cool if they released 85% of the tickets through the lottery and then sold a small allotment of tickets at the Cubs ticketing window one Wednesday morning or something where if you really want tickets and are willing to take off work/camp out, you conceivably have a shot. Very old school. But I'm sure others will point out why that's stupid and why they did away with distributing tickets that way. I'm sure the Cubs like the lottery because they can tell STH on the fence to renew if they want guaranteed playoff tickets.
  11. Hmm if they followed the Cubs rebuild it would be more like 2012 right? 2009 Cubs/2013 Bears - One last gasp for an aging contender 2010 Cubs/2014 Bears - Wheels fall off 2011 Cubs/2015 Bears - New management, same results 2012 Cubs/2016 Bears - Rock bottom but starting to accumulate assets? Maybe? Hopefully?
  12. https://twitter.com/MattAbbatacola/status/780496831084171266 Bears open as 2 point dogs at home I know you guys are itching to discuss this Bears/Lions tilt so have at it.
  13. That reminds me... 6 IP, 0 ER tonight......1.99459 ERA 7 IP, 0 ER tonight......1.98 ERA 8 IP, 0 ER tonight......1.97 ERA 9 IP, 0 ER tonight......1.96 ERA If he gives up even 1 earned run he will end the day with an ERA over 2.

  15. I've been looking at twitter occasionally and no one has tweeted that they've gotten an email either way.
  16. Other than Coghlan, that is the best possible defensive lineup behind Hendricks as he makes his second to last start with an outside chance at a Cy Young. Good stuff.
  17. i don't think the postseason is dictated by those rules, but i could be wrong Off the top of my head I am almost certain Game 3 of the 2003 NLDS against the Braves was on a Friday night. Also I'm pretty sure the ordinance that was approved places a limit on regular season night games and postseason/all star games are exempt. Edit: Beaten on the 03 NLDS
  18. [tweet] [/tweet] Someone tell Matheny that he's still in his 40s and doesn't have to act like a crotchety old man all the time like his mentor
  19. That said GWR posters are generally ok, about as much as a group of Cardinals fans could be, and I'm pretty sure they created their board with help from NSBB posters. Lets not troll them too hard. But this one was cool :)
  20. Hahaha that's awesome. And one of the posters quoted it, so all those gifs appear twice on the page
  21. http://gfycat.com/GranularGratefulChameleon http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-worst-called-ball-on-record/ Fangraphs says this is the worst called ball in the Pitchf/x era
  22. Well maybe now Derrick will finally understand the meaning of consent
  23. I love everything about this. He's not a HOF, or even an All-Star. What he is, is a great person, great teammate, great coach, great motivator, great defensive catcher with great personality and intangibles. Awesome send-off for Ross and definitely deserved. I really hope he comes back as a coach next year, but I can completely understand if he needs a year away from the game. We'll be waiting for him with a coaching position open for whenever he wants it.
