  1. Someone resell me on wanting the Mets. Regardless of relative talent you never want to face the hottest team and the Mets are probably that team, on a 27-12 stretch during which they've allowed the least runs in baseball and have 2 scorching hot hitters in Cabrera and Granderson. I know the schedule has been light but they are playing very good baseball and probably have a ton of confidence.
  2. Damn. If Boston could have just handled the Jays things could have been super interesting. Now the Tigers are on life support, the Mariners are about to eliminate themselves and a Jays win tomorrow clinches it regardless. That said if we do get a Tigers win and Jays loss tomorrow the stage is set for the 5 cities in 5 days thing for Detroit
  3. Phew. Would have been mad if Michigan didn't win that one since they outplayed wisky by a bit but missed 3 freaking FGs. 3 weeks till EL..
  4. Hahaha what the hell was that? Nice blast Heyward
  5. This is gonna be a short start for Jon. 57 pitches through 2+ innings
  6. All the important Cubs are going to suck in their last starts just to terrify you
  7. Gah that's gonna hurt the slim Cy chances
  8. Well MasterCard had a special NLDS sale this morning. It didn't give a specific on sale time just that it was today. Sometime between 1am and 8am they went on sale and sold out. Dammit
  9. Wtf Bryant. You aren't supposed to make outs on the basepaths.
  10. TT will love this
  11. I mean honestly who [expletive] gives a horsefeathers? Depends on how much you believe in Heyward's improvement over the last 2 weeks. If you think he's a sub-.700 hitter still you probably don't want him hitting 5th in a playoff game. I've been pointing out how well he's been hitting the ball as of late, but I'm still not 100% comfortable with him hitting as high as 5th. That said, lineup construction still doesn't really matter so overall it's not a big deal.
  12. Not a big fan of Joe experimenting with Heyward hitting 5th but ok.
  13. BAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA today's look at Mets refugee insanity. Regarding the Cubs tie yesterday: I mean...wow Not as funny but still....they love to mock NSBB's use of the term dongs: In response, someone call this the post of the year.
  14. trust me even my photographic memory of despair doesn't care enough to remember any details of losses the last couple of weeks.
  15. I mean it last happened over a decade ago. I'd say that makes it a novelty. I know, I just don't think its like some cool factoid or anything. It's just a way to call it an official game so the stats count but the records don't change.
  16. I don't know why people are treating this like such a novelty. I mean I know it doesn't happen a ton but a "tie" is basically a default designation they have to give a called game that's official and the stats count but remains tied and cannot or there's no reason to resume it. If the game meant something it would have been suspended and resumed to completion. And thus concludes today's unnecessary rant.
  17. The protest would stem from the fact that the umpires didn't get the Reds 30 seconds to challenge the play. The people that timed it that say the refs gave the Reds anywhere from 21-28 second before walking off, and its obvious the Reds wanted to challenge since Price supposedly chased down the umpires To me its a legit protest, but do the Reds really care enough to file one? The 30 second rule didn't apply there. Why? Because it was game ending? What is the rule for challenging a walk off play?

  19. To me, there's too much chatter about the Cubs defense being the reason for Hendricks (and to a lesser extent Lester) for me to think he will actually win the Cy Young. Holding out hope though. The consensus still seems to be Bryant for MVP which is great because I thought his support was start to fall off following a pretty dismal month of September (by his standards at least)
  20. Fred was always one step ahead of us
  21. If you're referring to my roster, was just a joke :)
  22. Well there's no if anymore. Tie game there's an if. if we win all 3 remaining games. on the flip side if our spring training lineups make it so we lose 2 of 3 in Cincinnati that tie helped us lose less than 60 games.
  23. Well there's no if anymore. Tie game
  24. It'd be nice if Addy could start hitting again in time for the playoffs
