  1. The one time you want him to put it into play as he has most of the playoffs
  2. We have 162 games of data that shows the Cubs struggle against the curve. It's not going to suddenly change unless Rich Hill loses it at some point.
  3. Hopefully this is one of those "first time around the order" things.
  4. Lol. Ken Rosenthal told Rizzo to have a good game after chatting and Rizzo said "I will"
  5. Now we have 2 game threads to talk food in, yay Warm it up Kris I'm about to Warm it up Kris That's what I was born to do
  6. My Cubs obsession is at an all time low as I find myself rocking out to Julianna Zobrist at work to pump me up for the game. I....I feel alive....I feel like the air is rushing in Ever so slightly saving face, its in a spotify playlist of Cubs walkup songs
  7. I just read that and then played with baseball savant numbers, and it seems like the cubs have done a good job of making good contact but without results. I believe it....its things like that which make the playoffs a crapshoot. We should feel happy we are 4-2 thus far because with better luck we win this series going away.
  8. This is good. What I would have liked to have seen is the overall caliber of pitcher the other 3 remaining teams have faced so far in the postseason. I'm guessing the AL teams wouldnt compare, but its probable the Dodgers have faced a similar cumulative gauntlet having faced Scherzer, Roark, Lester and Hendricks in 5 of their 7 games along with 2 solid pens (though I'm sure Dusty didn't maximize the usage of his best relievers so there is probably some crappy middle relievers in there)
  9. Maybe he liked the idea of RRRLRRRL in the lineup, with the ability to shift to LRLL at the top of the order if a RH comes in? It's odd because he's resisted moving Bryzzo 2-3 all season and has said how much he likes Zo as protection. Maybe with as well as Javy's been hitting he deems him to be suitable protection for Rizzo because I don't think any opponent is excited about pitching to Javy right now. Its not like Zobrist is hitting the crap out of the ball either. He still gives you good ABs most of the time and he's had some bad luck recently. Game 1: Lineout, Walk, Popped up, Double Game 2: Lineout, Fly out to warning track, K looking That's solid contact or solid result in 5 of his 7 PA in the NLCS

  11. Yeah I'm not sure why Soler wouldn't play LF with all the Dodger lefties. That said, from what I've seen so far in the series, they don't seem to have a lot of pull hitters, I can't remember too many balls fielded by Heyward. In fact doing a quick look through the Game 2 PBP I didn't see any plays to RF.
  12. Joe on the Score says Miggy is catching tonight and he is considering moving Russell down but hasn't committed to the idea yet
  13. Yeah seriously...we had some really good swings in that game. In that 5th inning, the 2 actual hits were not hit as hard/well as 2 of the outs in the inning. Then obviously Javy's fly out in the 7th.
  14. Chris Young hit the very first pitch of the game for a HR. Imagine how deflating that is for the Cubs, sure you are down 0-2 but you are back home, its the first playoff game at Wrigley in 4 years, the fans are nuts, you just did your pregame introductions that gives the game that very important feeling, and then boom you are losing already. He needs to make things right by blowing this game. Come on OPR.
  15. Really? I've heard nothing but horror stories about Stubhub cancelling orders and only offering a small amount in compensation (aka not enough to purchase tickets to that game). Of course on the internet you are probably more likely to hear the bad stories than the good ones. mdwilla, I would probably keep calling back and seeing if you can get a stubhub rep that is particularly sympathetic and generous. Short of that, I'd cause a stink on social media and see if it gets you anywhere.
  16. At this point I want them to sweep. The World Series starts a week from tomorrow (holy crap!) so I guess I would hope that they will be rusty for game 1 or something.
  17. I know lineup order doesn't matter that much but I've just never liked Zobrist batting 4th. How about Fowler, Zobrist, Bryant, Rizzo, Baez, Soler, Russell, Montero. The way Baez is hitting right now he should give Rizzo better protection than Russell, especially against a lefty. If you are on "Team Heyward" then put him where Soler is. And yes I know giving your best hitters less ABs by hitting them lower is illogical but sometimes I can't help but being illogical.
  18. Almora would be preferable to Heyward and his .586 OPS against LHP this year, because since you're already starting Montero against a LHP for defense and you can't punt the entire bottom 3rd of the order for defensive purposes. I'd still rather Soler hit because I don't trust Almora at the plate at all, and knowing what you want to do with Soler going in means you can maximize the upside while minimzing the downside. The last game was a perfect example, he got 4 plate appearances and had one fly ball hit his way. Against leftypalooza you can probably similarly hide him in LF with similar outcomes. I'm not 100% sure if I'd put him as high in the lineup because that puts you in a tricky late innings spot where Rizzo could be pitched around to get to Heyward/Almora, but we're splitting hairs at that point. Are we sure Montero will be catching? I'm pretty sure I read a note that the plan is for Montero to catch Jake tomorrow, so yes.
