  1. They did. He pinch ran for Soler after he walked last inning
  2. Which fangraphs idiot was disrespecting Schwarber during the trade deadline?
  3. We gotta hurry this game along. The bad weather is approaching and the last thing you want to do is to have to restart this game tomorrow, giving them a chance to regroup and taking away an off day
  4. Dude Schwarbs chill out. You have kids graduations to go to and stuff in the future
  5. The last time Soler got a hit, the Cubs last Central Division title was 2008
  6. Jeez man acceptable results so far but when he misses he's way off
  7. There has been 6 outs made in this game and it's been 39 minutes
  8. I love when a plan starts coming together Would love to see what the board thinks but I don't think going on 3 days rest cause be a big change in their performance considering the way Francona uses them. He wants the starters to go 4-5 innings then turn it over to the bullpen. He can and will pull them early so their PC is low. I'm guessing the recovery time for throwing like 75 pitches is shorter than throwing 110 or whatever. And then even in the game they pitch on short rest they will still only be expected to go 4-5 innings again.
  9. Very nice. Again, since Heyward can't hit, this is basically the new "Voltron lineup" that we were excited about in Spring Training.
  10. No, they don't do those. The 08 Series had a game that was concluded after being postponed during play. It might have even been the last one. Yes, at the time the rule in place was that you *could* have a rain shortened game in the World Series, but at the time Selig said he would have used his commissioners discretion or whatever it is called to make sure it wouldn't happen. And then after the season he officially changed the rules so that it wouldn't happen.
  11. Im actually getting concerned about minny. He's been saying increasingly erratic things over the last week or so.
  12. Guess at lineup? Fowler, CF Bryant, 3B Rizzo, 1B Zobrist, RF Schwarber, DH Soler, LF Baez, 2B Russell, SS Contreras, C That is almost certainly our most optimal offensive lineup. The only thing I don't like is that there are 4 straight righties at the bottom of the order facing a staff with almost all righties.
  13. I am actually quite annoyed about how little this loss bothered me. That combined with the fact that I wasn't super nervous for the game yesterday makes me believe I am "happy to be here" which is not the mentality I want to have. If you're looking for silver linings, I think the Cubs hitters actually looked better than the Indians hitters despite the results being different. I think we more consistently took better ABs, made good adjustments, hit for more overall power besides whats his face on Cleveland.
  14. The flip side is that we can pitch Hendricks game 2 and have Arrieta at home, who is a much better hitter.
  15. I wonder if that factored into the decision to have him throw that much yesterday.
  16. It makes me wonder what the odds are that he's on this roster next year. Theo and co. would have to sell low on him. I still like Jorge and think he could develop into a star, but even if his bat does get more consistent there are still major concerns with his frequent injuries and to a lesser extent defense.
  17. Dave Cameron, for all his warts, does a decent job breaking down the decision to not PH Soler over Ross with the bases loaded last night. He agrees Soler should have probably hit there. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/joe-maddons-other-curious-decision/
  18. This feels awfully unfair for a guy that pitched a complete game shutout in a winner take all game just over a year ago, but Jake needs to come out and dominate this damn game like the big game pitcher he knows he can be.
  19. Joe said that they wouldnt rule out using him in the field at Wrigley. I don't think its a great idea, but he seems to have exceeded all previous expectations so why the hell not?
  20. Yeah sorry I might have jumped the gun based on fringe sources. I just needed something to spice things up while watching the Cubs game.
