  1. I have my sporting sights on OSU/Michigan assuming they can get past Iowa. Luckily I have a few weeks of downtime to recoup and regain the trust of my family that I'm not insane.
  2. Actually slightly down today relative to sports emotions. Starting to sink in that there are no more games after a month of intense games every night. Its a bit of a comedown back to normal life after watching your sports dream achieved.
  3. His reactions in this series were beyond awesome. He seriously reacted just like a fan would, from his convo with Ross to his look of shock and awe standing on third base after Zobrists double. It's even cooler when you compare how he approaches a huge game like this to how the trained baseball robot Kris Bryant does with a calm and collected reaction to everything. A perfect example is immediately after game 5. On the field they interviewed Bryant who was asked how it felt to be playing in such a huge game. Bryant's response was "I just treated it like any other game" then a few seconds later across the field they ask Rizzo the same question and his response was like "omg I was shaking the whole time it was intense"
  4. Nevermind it apparently is
  5. Really cool of the Royals. Not sure why they would send the Cubs pizza though. Is this some sort of WS Handoff tradition?
  6. Also after reading that Fangraphs article about Chapmans 9th it's absolutely amazing that he got out of that inning unscathed. The dude was throwing hanging sliders on nearly every pitch and the Indians somehow were not able to square one up. I mean one of those is squared up and were in a completely different mood today
  7. Is anyone else waiting for Tree to make an epic paint story about this?
  8. For every other game of the playoffs, there has been a full version of the game on YouTube. Today there still is not, which I'm assuming is because the MLB is blocking any uploads in order to sell digital copies of the game.
  9. These predictions were terrible. Dex waited until the 4th pitch, and Javy's was the only of the 3 Cubs HRs that did NOT match that description. Do better next time. And Shortstops. Why can't they make the whole team out of catchers and shortstops?
  10. Am I the only one that's done small things today like: 1) Go to the "2016 Chicago Cubs" page on BR to see the little banner that says World Series Champs, then go to their Team Index and see "Won WS (4-3)" under playoffs, and then finally going to the World Series page that says World Series: Chicago Cubs (103-58) over Cleveland Indians (94-67) 4-3 2) Go to wikipedia's Cubs page to see it say "World Series Champions 1907 1908 2016" as well as the page for "Longest Championship Droughts" and marvel at how you don't see the Cubs name at the top, they are all the way at the bottom of the active streaks section next to the number 0
  11. Wait was this confirmed that it was Theo or are you just guessing?
  12. Good article about Zo....to be honest I remembered all the big moments they listed but in my mind I hadn't realized how many big hits he had. He rather quietly was one of the most important players in this postseason run. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/ben-zobrist-will-not-be-underrated-by-the-history-books/ Edit: I mean look at this horsefeathers. Shaw threw his best pitch, to a spot where he hadn't allowed any hits all season, to a spot that happens to be Zobrist's coldest hitting area, and he was rewarded with allowing the go-ahead run
  13. Don't know about you guys, but I have gotten absolutely no work done today. I fill up my browser with tabs of articles, and then i read them, and then i remember to go to another side, and then open up 6-7 articles from that site. This is just the best.
  14. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  15. David Ross was the greatest signing in Cubs history, I don't care what anyone says.
  16. I think this post belongs in the "The Cubs lost the World Series" thread that doesnt and never will exist.
  17. You did experience this with him my friend, you did.
  18. Ive thought about that a lot recently. Part of me thinks that they would keep tradition and just put a flag up. But horsefeathers tradition we hadn't won in 107 years, put up the biggest horsefeathering banner you could ever imagine. Drape it over the Nuveen sign and keep it there forever.
  19. There are so many times when you wish for something so badly, and it happens and its not like you imagined it. This was one of those times. Because this was better.
  20. I can't get over the fact that throughout the entire playoff run, the Cubs basically mocked the franchises history of futility repeatedly. They go up 2-0 in the NLDS, blow a save late in game 3, then Bryant steps up and says 'nah dont worry' and ties it up in the 9th, but they lose anyways. Then they look lifeless and dead trailing by 3 in the 9th of Game 4. People start thinking about 84 and 03, collapses of epic proportions. Just when the worst of Cub fans is coming out, boom 4 runs and before the fans can even stop spewing negativity the Cubs have won. Then they go to the NLDS, game 1, the Cubs strike early and lead by 2 in the 8th. Then a hit, a walk and things are getting tense. Then here comes the moment they will be talking about forever when discussing Cub futility. Chopper to Bryant, he makes a bad read and tries for the runner at 3rd but can't get there in time and everyone is safe. Oh the horror this is terrible and to make it worse, Chapman gets the first 2 outs but gives up a heartbreaking single to tie it. The doom and gloom is coming. Only...wait Miggy grand slam, Cubs win and no one thinks about Bryants play or the 2 out single again. Then they go and get shut out the next TWO games. I mean think about this, the Cubs got shut out in two consecutive playoff games in the NLCS. How many teams survive that? It looks like another postseason crapout just like they always do, the offense gets cold at the wrong time and next thing you know the seasons over. Only the Cubs were like 'nah we're just having some fun' and score 10 runs in Game 4, 8 in Game 5, and 5 in Game 6 and suddenly were in the World Series We are off to the world series but suddenly, TWO MORE SHUTOUTS in the first 3 games. Man its so Cub to go break the barrier and get to the World Series only to fall flat on our faces to the inferior team. The Indians are throwing a jillion breaking balls and everyone knows the Cubs just recoil at the sight of them. Only....grind out a win to salvage the season. At least we got one at Wrigley right? Then the offense lights up the Indians in Game 6, and is leading 5-1 in Game 7. Now game 7 is just full of typical Cub moments. Bad managerial decisions that backfire, bad decisions on the basepaths and uncharacteristic defensive gaffes, a wild pitch off the catches mask leads to TWO runs scoring, everything working perfectly until you can count the outs remaining on 1 hand and suddenly collapse from the dominant closer. Everyone is apocalyptic, how could we let ourselves believe like this only to have the other shoe drop at the worst possible time. This is going to be the worst loss of all time and now we have a stupid rain delay to sit through to delay the inevitable. Only...nah haven't you been following this team, they got this. And they did. World Series champs. In order to make history and break through this barrier they had to toy with and mock history, showing the fans that there is nothing to be scared of. There are no curses, or jinxes, there is no deity preventing the Cubs from winning it. They showed the world that, and I will love them all forever because of it (except Chapman)
  21. Please let this break be like the break before regulation and Ot in game 7 against the wings after hammer got screwed on a goal and they looked frazzled.
  22. Hopefully the last Cubs pitching change we see all year
  23. Well now it's either going to be the greatest night of our lives or the worst. No inbetween
