  1. Well, I can answer the why. (Hendricks - Hen = dricks = drix) The rest remains a mystery.
  2. Without checking the other rosters, I wouldn't be shocked to learn that Monty is the best 6th SP in baseball, based on projections.
  3. Apollos? Plural Apollo? That makes no sense what-so-ever. I like it.
  4. I need to clarify my like is a hate like
  5. The comments are awesome:
  6. The Onion: Bryce Harper Asks If Phillies Willing To Move To Another City
  7. For all the Nakamura fans out there, this is, without a doubt, the most Nakamura thing he has ever done: [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]
  8. I always assumed the main benefit to starting with a reliever was that you can start with a reliever with opposite splits of the "starter" that would come in for the 2nd inning. If you have Rich Hill up in your rotation, the opposition would pack the line up with righties, and the top of the line up is where you put your best hitters, for obvious reasons. But if you bring in a right-handed reliever to start the game, you either get an inning of good match ups, or you cause a bunch of early-game, non-double-switch PH/defensive switches (unless the other team is also starting the game with a reliever) OR at the least, you force the other team into putting their best split-dependant hitters lower in the order. Am I thinking of this wrong? I think the make up of the bullpen plays a lot into how beneficial it can be.
  9. The Vegas numbers are out already and they’re 88-90. I want to say Yeah, its going to be hard to find a good number for the Cubs. Just too many homers that bet them. That and no one gives a poo what Pecota says.
  10. 50% more per year, and 300% more over the course of a decade is a huge difference. No one is trading for Heyward and his entire contract. but acting like there's a negligible difference between what he's owed, and what Harper will be owed is illogical. No it’s not. Not when the difference is the production between Heyward and Harper.
  11. Last year, Cards were #1 in Pitcher wOBA and the Brewers were #3. This is an insane attempt at refuting my epic doom boner, and you know it. Insane? Its approximately half the story of switching to the DH.
  12. Last year, Cards were #1 in Pitcher wOBA and the Brewers were #3.
  13. Our pitchers are also extremely poor hitters compared to the league average, so double bonus. Of all pitchers with at least 10 ABs, only two Cubs were in the top 60 in wOBA last year: Chatwood ranked 32nd and Lester ranked 58th.
  14. I would like them explained to me in detail first http://i.imgur.com/FnEax5f.gif
  15. ...it took me a day before I figured it out. I was focusing on the fact that he was dead. The joke is even worse/better than that. Awesome.
  16. I watched the first episode and I was embarrassed that I stuck through the whole thing.
  17. I would normally like it, but I have a hunch that Addi had something to do with this, and I'm off that train.
  18. All of this is true. It's also true that Bryant has reached that level in every season in which he was "fully" healthy and also was on pace to go well past 6 WAR last year before the injury. It's possible that the injury will limit the finish on his swing going forward and that his results dip as a result. But I'll take bets on the gap between his 2018 and 2019 more than offsetting the dip in Javy's, assuming KB and Javy each play in 145+ games. Any of you doom bonering people want to wager? I offered to make wagers as a responce to his doom bonering before. I never heard back. (Although, that 145+ game stipulation is pretty significant.)
  19. The Phils need to make their move soon so we can lock this thread at 108 pages.
  20. The time he tried to fight the entire Reds team was pretty baller You can cut to 1:00 if you want to skip Castro and Junior Lake reminders: [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]
  21. Yes, most of the random posters you guys bring up are before my time here lol. Ah One of the many mountains he chose to die upon was that different types of alcohol made you different types of drunk. A LOT of people I know feel the same way. Had some pretty brutal arguments about it.
  22. Here's what I'm saying. Most all the teams don't spend any money and all the good players go to a few teams willing to spend at discounted prices = not collusion All of the teams pretend to be poor, prices come down, and then all the players get distributed across the league to the same teams that claimed poor earlier = collusion
  23. ...why would all the owners work to help the Phillies exclusively?
