tommy hanson turned 23 in august last year and had 2 years of full-season ball under his belt, including spending most of the previous year at AA. starlin castro just turned 20 a month ago and has played only 1 year of full-season ball, most of which was spent in A ball. hanson starting the year in AAA was in large part a financial decision; starting castro in AA has a lot more to do with not rushing the player and hurting his development. Yes but it seems to be that Castro is ready to join the big leagues. He showed it in ST and has shown it in the minors. I don't think he can really develop any more down there. He has maxed out the development he could get in the minors. Please explain how he's maxed out in development in the minors. That's ridiculous. The point is that having Castro in the big leages makes the Cubs better. Is he just one game better? Maybe, but it is the GMs responsibility to make every move that he can to bring a team closer to a World Series (within financial reason).

Speaking of getting rid of things in a baseball game, I remember when Jose Lima was pitching terribly, called out the coach, took off his cup, handed it to him, and proceeded to pitch much better. -
I know that picking Russell was something that a lot of people said was a bad idea, but someone was going to take him. And that means someone was going to lose a ton of money. These rookie contracts have to be checked. It is just ridiculous that someone could get $40 million upfront without playing one down in the NFL. Half of NFL first round picks end up being busts. This is going to cause a lockout. Walter Jones of Seattle retired today. Which of these phenomenal NFL left tackles was better: Pace or Jones?

I got this guy Dwight Howard ahead of him. There are three guys on every team that are better than Varejao. I'm not trying to diminish the guy, but he isn't top-50 in my book. dwight howard blocks a couple more shots, but varejao is much more of an annoyance in the paint. overall they're at least equals No not really.

I really don't know what can be done. The NBA is getting faster and faster and calls have to be made in a fraction of a second. Because we have high-def TVs with slow motion we can see things the refs just can't with the naked eye.

LOL Varejao is not even close to being a top 50 player. He's serviceable, but just a guy.

Varejao is without a doubt one of my top-five least favorite NBA players. Didn't he hold out a few years back? He wanted a ton of money for very little talent. Varejao might be a Top 50 player in the WNBA. Not when you average 5 points a game.

agreed. not that i wouldnt take him on my team. Jordan did the same thing. He was actually way worse. And Mike was pretty darn likeable. Jordan won six titles and never danced and preened like a high school kid lighting up some scrub team. James acts like an ass. Jordan was the BIGGEST trash talker of all time. He stuck his tongue in in spite every time he dunked. Yeah he never danced, but all in all Jordan ran his mouth maybe more than anyone. Jordan did that to the Cavs for years, and now LeBron does it back. Now we know what it is like.

And that's why you don't let Lebron beat you. It's never just two, certainly not in the fourth quarter (deserved or not). I was referring to doubling him and then LeBron passing out to a wide open shooter for three.

He really must have. I was hoping the Vikings would look at him for RG but they had no interest. Neither did the Bears, neither did the vast majority of the league. I pretty much only watched the Jets in the playoffs last year and while their o-line in general was very good, I never really focused in on him enough to tell. Angelo publicly said that he had interest in Faneca.

Maybe the defenders switch and Noah gets the guard on him so you can dump the ball to him in the post. That would be a horrible reason to do this. NOT CONTINUATION? You would rather have a 7 footer on Noah? All I'm saying is that if you are going to bring Noah out, try to get the mismatch.
