  1. He was stumbling around and talking on and on.
  2. Why would the league block the trade?
  3. I totally agree. Some of the posters on HFBoards are noting that Buff could be the "face of the franchise" given that he's a black player in Atlanta. Aliu too, to a smaller extent. Setting aside the oversimplicity of the racial component to this, Buff isn't cut out to be the face of any franchise. That's not his thing. He will not carry the load for anyone, and especially not for a bad team. Without motivation, he will disappear on the ice. Kovalchuck led the NHL in scoring the last few years, and no one even talked about him down here. The Atlanta franchise really got hurt when they had to trade him. They offered him $100 million, and he said no. I think that was the last straw for the franchise here under the current ownership. One ownership group controls the Atlanta Hawks and Thrashers, and word is they are trying to sell both. I bet they go to Canada somewhere just like the Flames. The only way to get black people to like hockey in Atlanta is to get Jordan to play center for the Thrashers. Hockey will never be big in Atlanta. But the Thrashers had to make this move to try to make a splash. They can't wait 5 years to get good beacuse they are losing $20 million a year.
  4. This was the longest game ever played. And that's only counting the fifth set.
  5. Who has had or has the best single pitch ever? Bob Feller's fastball? Rivera's cutter? Hoffman's change?
  6. Exactly. Especially when you have Tiger, Ernie and Phil all in the mix. Once Ernie got through with his awful 9-10-11 stretch that dropped him back, they couldn't even pose the threat of making a run. They all made numerous mental mistakes, hit poor shots and rarely made putts. Fairly shocking considering the talent up there. McDowell was just steadily hitting fairway's and making the 5-10 foot putts that everyone else seemed to be missing. And his "steady" round was a 74. It was there for the taking and although the greens were super tough, no one could step up. Mcdowell was in a great position. When you have to try to make birdies on this course, you won't be able to. Chances are you will make bogies instead when you take chances. All Mcdowell had to do was play it safe, which isn't easy to do.
  7. Agreed. You have to throw him a softball question in order for him not to give you the look of "I want to ram this driver down your throat."
  8. This isn't the course to get your game back together on. But he is still hanging in there when you know he doesn't have it totally back yet.
  9. Did Johnson hit a provisional? There is nothing wore than marching all the way back to the teebox and hitting another. Side note: would anyone pay $350,000 for a Lexus?
  10. He would have liked his drive there.
  11. He tripled it for a 7. ESPN.com has it screwed up too. When you go to the webpage and click on leaderboard, they show total strokes. But that doesn't help because you have to figure out what hole each player is on to get an idea how far back they are. A simple -1 or E would help.
  12. Dustin is using a Pebble Beach caddie that he must not know very well, but that guy has to get in there and say something. He has to stop using driver and playing so darn fast.
  13. Well he has hit a left handed 2 foot lob wedge and a right handed 2 foot lob wedge on one hole. And now he misses the easy put. Triple bogey. Phil and Tiger definitely have an opportunity now. Going to be an exciting day on a great course.
  14. Why is Mary Carillo doing the color for ABC?
  15. So a commentator can't rip a coach until he has coached himself? That's the same stupid mentality that sports radio hosts who have played in professional sports use against callers who question them. The odd thing is that I bet Lou will really start to play Colvin more now.
  16. I thought the Cubs were getting a guy who kept a tight clubhouse in Lou Piniella. He really has softened in the last couple years. I don't think he has the energy or will to keep a tight ship anymore.
  17. Didn't the Hawks struggle getting the puck out of their zone and into the neutral zone with Campbell out for the first or first part of the Nashville series?
  18. I'm not sure they want to move him. Maybe they do. I kind of feel like this consensus has wrapped around the basic framework of the Blackhawks' offseason (trade Sopel, waive Huet, move a couple of Versteeg/Ladd/Byfuglien/Sharp) but really, I wonder if the Blackhawks brass has plans entirely of their own. I'm not so sure they can win next year if they have to move that many players, but obviously they will have to do something. Depth was this team's strong suit since they don't have a superstar. Pittsburgh and Washington still scare me with a bunch of the aforementioned gone.
  19. The Hawks all seemed to go to a bar at 8AM called The Pony Inn to celebrate. http://deadspin.com/5560417/blackhawks-celebrate-cup-win-with-8am-trip-to-chicago-bar/gallery/
  20. I wonder if Carroll knew he was going to get these sanctions and that is why he bolted. But Kiffin getting hammered with something he didn't do....couldn't happen to a better guy!
  21. what an odd post he's a sense-maker, that one Bigots.
  22. I guess a lot of the partying was on the north side near Wrigleyville. This is really the only championship celebration they have had in a long time.
  23. http://www.chicagotribune.com/media/photo/2010-06/54218950.jpg
  24. I really haven't been paying much attention to how this whole thing has progressed, but why did the Big 10 want to expand? They were already making tons of money with the new TV station. Do they want an even number of teams to get a football playoff like the SEC and Big 12 did?
  25. Gotta love the head fake and the shake and bake. He gave the Flyers defenseman a basketball move. And it worked. Leighton must have thought he was going to pass the puck or skate around the net. He seemed unprepared.
