  1. I told you to get Castro's butt up here! Watch him got 0-20 next.
  2. All Calipari would be in Chicago is a figurehead, just like Mike Brown is in Cleveland. We all know who coaches the Cavs and it ain't Brown. So why are people worrying about Calipari? All the offense would be is to run through LBJ first, Rose second, LBJ third, and Rose 4th. Doesn't take a genius to figure it out. We are worrying about Calipari because he might bring a star with him. I don't think anyone really wants him just for his X/O abilities. But remember Phil was not a figurehead. He helped incorporate the triangle. Stars don't absolutely dictate the type of play on the court. Coaches certainly influence.
  3. Some of the hits Buff was laying near the goal and on the forecheck were ridiculous. Why was he ever on defense?
  4. It would certainly lock in his reputation as the Nick Saban of college basketball. "He might be an idiot, but he's our idiot." Especially so if Calipari brings LeBron here and wins a championship(s).
  5. This is actually pretty far from the truth. Cal runs a fairly complex dribble drive motion offense. No, he's right. Calipari is pretty much a strategical nitwit. Can he payoff LeBron under the table like he did with his college players? If so, bring him along. Listening to the radio today GarPax got ridiculed because they didn't say for sure that the coaching search would be completed by July 1. But what if they hire a coach that Bosh or Wade doesn't like? What if all other factors between teams are equal and the coach is the deciding factor? I too would want to keep my options open, but you still have to be careful that your top prioritized coach isn't snatched up before you can get him.
  6. When was the last time you can think of an NBA team that you'd say won the title because of coaching? Even if you go back to the '80's, it was Boston and LA with a clear talent gap over the rest of the league winning the titles. The Bulls never won a title until Phil got there. L.A. never won with Shaq and Kobe until Phil got there. Both of those teams would have probably won titles anyway, but Phil's blend of being a good X/Os guy (triangle offense) and balancing egos sure didn't hurt.
  7. He is right near the top of my list. The problem people might have with him is that he is a my way or the highway kind of coach. Similar to Skiles. Preaches defense. He style of coaching can wear people down though.
  8. One more goal and Niemi needs to come out. He could use a period off physically and mentally. Huet could get some game time in case he is needed later.
  9. Weren't the Hawks down big to Luongo last year and they scored a bunch of goals to make the game close? Was that game 1 also?
  10. This is the game where we were too cocky. Then Monday we will be humbled and give a better effort Monday and win. Or something Maybe the Hawks were too cocky, but how can you be cocky when you narrowly missed going down 3 games to 2 against the Predators? They should respect Vancouver more than that.
  11. Then stop posting. Another way to put this; "yes my argument is ridiculous and based on nothing, so if you don't like that then don't respond." How many more years would you like before a championship is won? Tell the Twins how much one measley game means to a team the last two years. the twins didn't win a championship either. Getting in the playoffs by winning the one game playoff at least gave them a chance.
  12. Well they are a borderline Wild Card team. Once you are in and have a good starting staff, anything can happen.
  13. I'm impressed with Q's zoot suit
  14. I thought it was very good quality. I can't believe that WGN HD was not on Direc TV until now. What was the holdup?
  15. Yes, but the Nationals aren't close to winning a championship this year. The Cubs are which is why they need to do everything within their power to make their team better.
  16. Then stop posting. Another way to put this; "yes my argument is ridiculous and based on nothing, so if you don't like that then don't respond." How many more years would you like before a championship is won? Tell the Twins how much one measley game means to a team the last two years. That has literally nothing to do with Castro. That has literally everything to do with Castro. Little things matter.
  17. He SCORED...his broken stick from like 50 feet out. Never seen that.
  18. Phil is getting what, $10 million a year? There is no way Reinsdorf is paying that is he?
  19. Can Toronto even afford a max contract? I'm sure they have the space, but do they have the money.
  20. The Cubs window for winning a championship is shrinking very quickly. Soriano, Lee, Ramirez's careers are all beginning to decline. The farm system is not stocked and there are not enough prospects to recover the loss these guys will leave behind. The days of $120 million dollar payrolls are over with Ricketts. That means you have to develop your own talent which the Cubs can't do very well. Screw the future, especially when you haven't won a WS in over 100 years. Castro can improve more, but only in the bigs. He cannot develop anymore in the minors. He has seen enough. 1) We have no idea what the Ricketts are going to do with the payroll. But by their word (repeated time after time), every penny that comes in as revenue is going to get spent on the team. Which would say that the payroll will at least hold steady and probably move up over time 2) The payroll from the guys leaving will be available to bring in younger players to form a new core 3) The minors may not be "stocked", but there are quality players down there to fill some of the roster spots over the next few years 4) As has been pointed out by many, there are a LOT of things Castro can still work on to improve down in the minors There are so many things wrong with this, but I'll focus on a few things: 1) Yes we do know what general direction Ricketts will take. He has publicly said that the current salary for Cub players is unsustainable because they get their players through free agency and they end up paying through the nose. He has strongly encouraged the farm system to improve to lower costs because a few of the contracts are backloaded. They need to take in more just to pay for what they have. 2) Soriano isn't leaving any time soon. Neither is Zambrano. Ram has a few years left. The big money contracts are still there for some time. 3) Yes the minors can fill some of the spots (Castro at 2B), but when it comes to getting guys to fill the big power hitting and expensive positions (3B, 1B, corner outfield), I am not aware of any up and coming prospects. 4) He could become a switch hitter maybe. I can't give up on my argument now. I'm all in.

  22. I'm haven't. Not because I don't want to believe it, it just that RUMORS at this point is nothing more then either wishful thinking by other teams, or pure speculation. For instance, I hear rumors that Houston will be a player for Bosh, even though Chris has said he doesn't want to play at home. Or how about the rumor that Miami has Amare AND Boozer in the bag? Again, I don't believe anything in the NBA rumor section. Well I'm not wondering if the rumors are true, just if anyone else heard them.
  23. Then stop posting.
  24. Ray Allen for three years? He's too old for that. The Bulls desperately need a two guard over 6'3". I'm hearing rumblings that Bosh doesn't want to go to Chicago. Anyone else hear that?
