I totally agree. Some of the posters on HFBoards are noting that Buff could be the "face of the franchise" given that he's a black player in Atlanta. Aliu too, to a smaller extent. Setting aside the oversimplicity of the racial component to this, Buff isn't cut out to be the face of any franchise. That's not his thing. He will not carry the load for anyone, and especially not for a bad team. Without motivation, he will disappear on the ice. Kovalchuck led the NHL in scoring the last few years, and no one even talked about him down here. The Atlanta franchise really got hurt when they had to trade him. They offered him $100 million, and he said no. I think that was the last straw for the franchise here under the current ownership. One ownership group controls the Atlanta Hawks and Thrashers, and word is they are trying to sell both. I bet they go to Canada somewhere just like the Flames. The only way to get black people to like hockey in Atlanta is to get Jordan to play center for the Thrashers. Hockey will never be big in Atlanta. But the Thrashers had to make this move to try to make a splash. They can't wait 5 years to get good beacuse they are losing $20 million a year.
