  1. That roster would be fun for Cubs nation....to follow on Gameday and radio
  2. And he compared Bryant to Giancarlo Stanton and Russell to Larkin. Man it's fun to see people talking up the Cubs.
  3. I think it's interesting the way reporters are talking about the two paths the Cubs were going to take this offseason depending on Lester. I think we assumed they didn't want Scherzer, but that also makes me think they weren't going to go too far for Shields if JL didn't sign.
  4. What about Hendricks makes people think he's a lock for the rotation/is going to be good? His FB averages only 87 MPH and he struck out like 5 per 9 last year. I get he has really good control, but his stuff just isn't there. His changeup is really really good, and the command + groundball ability will play. He's at least the 4th best SP on the team, and I assume he's a lock to be in the rotation the way Theo talked about him toward the end of the season.
  5. Oh man here comes Lester signing with the Red Sox Hah Anyways he basically said this same thing on the radio just now but this was from a chat earlier: I remember that 30 for 30 Short when Theo talked about sneaking out of the Winter Meetings in 2003 to go to NY to talk to ARod in person to see if he'd sign an extension before a trade. I wonder if he sneaked off to ATL to talk to Lester.
  6. Put Russell at 3B, let him get fat again, and see if he can hit 30 bombs.
  7. Wouldn't that just make Shields and/or Scherzer more expensive for them? I don't see much of an incentive for the Dodgers to fake interest.
  8. I can totally believe the Cubs made that offer. Jed brought up needing more OBP just the other day, and there aren't a ton of outfield options for that.
  9. Wright was a baffling non-tender last year under Maddon as well. I wonder if Joe doesn't trust him or something. Idk, only thing I can think of.
  10. This kid supposedly had the Hanley or Panda deals before anyone, correct?
  11. I'm still not convinced Valbuena isn't our long term answer at 3B. I think Bryant is/will be an outfielder, and who knows if Javy turns it around or if there's a trade of one of the middle infielders.
  12. Mooney's been kind of reporting on the Lester pursuit like he did Tanaka last year - despite how much the Cubs want him, he doesn't sound confident at all they'll land him.
  13. La Stella is better than Watkins. The jump to AAA (and the majors) hasn't been kind to Logan. I suppose this makes sense when you think about the backup infielders we have currently - basically nobody besides Olt and Watkins, which, ew. The thing about La Stella being a bench player though is that he's a 2B-only at the moment. That will need to change.
  14. Guys, the OPS is fine, so stop worrying about Stanton and Springer.
  15. Only Anthony Rizzo's teams.
  16. cubs.com has it too
  17. lol, Theo needed a jacket. Jed ran to get more beers.
  18. Just let Sharma ask all of the questions. Less dumb questions about 107 yrs and past managers.
  19. Wood has to be gone, right? It seems odd that they would sacrifice the ability to trade Wada over a million dollars. Wood for Montero+?
  20. Maddon didn't learn of the opt-out and then immediately decided to leave. He was told he had the clause and was given a few weeks to decide. The Rays think the Cubs spoke with him during that time before he officially opted out.
  21. What an exciting game. These interviews have been equally boring and awkward.
  22. I loved the shot of a pumped up Paul Rudd after that triple.
  23. Someone tell Harold that despite how many times he says otherwise, Herrera does indeed get a lot of groundballs. Throwing hard doesn't preclude one from being able to induce grounders like he seems to think.
  24. I don't really agree with that second part. If Maddon didn't have an opt out and the Cubs played well in 2015 under Renteria, he probably would have been here for the long haul. I doubt Theo planned on hiring 3 managers before his first contract is up.
