  1. Kruk offers nothing other than being the butt of lighthearted jokes. That's not a lack of effort by Olt.
  2. You mean Olt? You seriously need to come to grips with Bryant at third base. I don't know. He'll probably play mostly third base when he comes up (assuming Olt doesn't start out really well), but I think it's kind of telling they're still having him practice LF even without Valbuena here. I don't think he'll be in the infield for long.
  3. AL West - Mariners Central - Indians East - Red Sox WC 1 - Orioles WC 2 - White Sox ROY - Rodon CY - Felix MVP - Trout NL West - Dodgers Central - Cardinals East - Nationals WC 1 - Cubs WC 2 - Pirates ROY - Soler (Bryant a close second) CY - Strasburg MVP - McCutchen Cubs beat Pirates in WC game and lose to the Nats in the NLDS. Nationals over Mariners in World Series
  4. They're going to cover the bleacher area with something, correct? Hopefully?
  5. What did that raging doofus do now? He wrote an article around last week or so that said Baez made the team.
  6. Not going to lie, while I was fairly optimistic about Baez coming into camp, I'm now fearing he goes full on Brett Jackson, where he's worried about making adjustments after his horrid MLB stint and won't even be able to produce at AAA anymore. I'm probably reading too much into his spring stats, but I was expecting more there. I think Russell beats him to the majors.
  7. lol at Wittenmyer
  8. The first five is probably what we'll see on opening day.
  9. I'd still rather have Alcantara or La Stella start at 3B over Olt.
  10. This ump has somewhere to be.
  11. lol, Theo looked like he was dreading having to deal with Schilling and even more Bryant questions.
  12. Per Wittenmyer, Baez has been told he'll be on the opening day roster.
  13. It's not the 12 games that's a concern, it's the extra year Bryant has to wait to be paid fair market value. Right, and it would also be more than 12 games in order to keep up appearances. Maybe I'm overreacting to Tony Clark's comments and overestimating the power of the PA in this situation, I don't know. I do worry about a potential grievance. Could be irrational on my part.
  14. As much as it made sense for Bryant to start the season in Iowa before spring training started, are we at the point where it wouldn't be worth the stink Boras would make and the potential grudge Kris and his family would hold? I think there are downsides now to sending him down beyond just the fact that he's better than Olt and La Stella.
  15. Zobrist was their best hitter last year, and bear in mind, going into the season, there was a reasonable case to be made that Myers was/would be. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/TBR/2014-batting-orders.shtml Yeah that's true. Though I feel like Longoria was still "the guy" and he mostly hit cleanup. But yeah, maybe Maddon has already been doing this.
  16. Maddon said he was going to talk with the front office about the benefits of hitting the pitcher 8th when he was hired. I wonder if he's embracing the whole "the best hitter should actually hit 2nd" belief after those conversations.
  17. Gameday isn't accurate pitch-by-pitch in spring training. All at bats that end in a ball in play are one pitch, all K's are three, and all walks are four pitches.
  18. Rogers said Soler hit a line drive off Rosscup's arm. Thank God that wasn't Lester. Plz don't let Soler bat against any of our good pitchers.
  19. Jesse Rogers has said Alcantara will play some 3rd base this spring, but it sounds like he's spent most of his time at 2nd so far. I was thinking Baez would start the season at 2B with Alcantara at 3rd until Bryant arrives, but I'm starting to question that a bit. I don't want to read too much into it, but I'm wondering if the tentative plan is Baez to AAA, Mendy at 2nd, and La Stella at 3rd.
  20. So do you think it's bold or is it as much of a no-brainer as you're arguing it to be? Either way, nope, not happening. And I counter that they'd look like short sighted idiots (SSR is going to get mad at this post) if they broke camp with him. I think maybe, if Boras wasn't his agent they might give it a second thought. What's the precedent for a team breaking camp with a guy with the prospect status of Bryant and forgoing holding him down to gain the year of FA? Has it ever happened? The Braves did it with Heyward. He homered off Z that opening day.
  21. Theo was rocking a USMNT jersey (kit?).
  22. Yesterday with the media, Maddon was talking about how he liked to hit Longoria 4th instead of 3rd because of more RBI opportunities. I wonder if we'll see Rizzo hitting cleanup more this year with Soler or Castro 3rd.
  23. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/fangraphs-audio-kiley-mcdaniel-on-that-giant-prospect-list/ Around the 26 minute mark Kiley talks about Russell then Bryant. It's worth a listen I think. He talks about Russell's broad shoulders and how it may make sense for him to gain his high school weight back and turn into a power hitting third baseman.
