  1. I feel like Maddon hasn't been very hesitant in burning his backup catcher.
  2. Schwarber and Coghlan are both lefties.
  3. No I'm guessing this means that either Teagarden is going back down or Ross' concussion is worse than what we expected. Sahadev Sharma ‏@sahadevsharma 24s24 seconds ago Schwarber is being called up, but not to be the everyday catcher. Cubs will carry three catchers and KS will get some time behind plate. Jesse Rogers ‏@ESPNChiCubs 31s31 seconds ago Source says Cubs will employ 3 catchers again: Schwarber, David Ross and Taylor Teagarden. Schwarber not necessarily the everyday guy That's [expletive] stupid.
  4. I imagine Ross/Teagarden will be defensive replacements every game Schwarbs starts.(Basically whenever Lester doesn't pitch.)
  5. After the season, we free up Fowler (9.5MM) Wada (4MM) and Denorfia (2.6MM.) We can NT Wood, who currently makes 5.685MM, and after next season, Edwin's 13MM is off the books. Arrieta's likely due a hefty raise, and in the not too distant future, Bryant, Russell, Soler, and maybe Hendricks. Of course there will be holes to fill, but we should understand how huge it is to have a player like Rizzo locked up as cheap as we do, and the same can be said for Castro if he's not dead. Short version: we do. Oh, thanks for clearing that up.
  6. It was a huge insult to Trout. Jackson was just making his debut at Trout's current age.
  7. Anything by Paladin Cecil
  8. I'm just guessing, but I imagine they'll prefer having more division races, not less. With 2 wild cards per league, top 2 division winners avoid the 1(or probably 3) game playoffs?
  9. I don't think we have available/are willing to spend the money it will take to get Price.
  10. Would have to be to a team that is out of it this year, but expects to be good next year...A's? Pads?
  11. I look forward to you telling us how dumb the all-star game is every [expletive] year.
  12. I get that Keuchel is really good. I also get that Chris Sale is better and a hell of a lot more fun to watch pitch. And Kluber got robbed. Keuchel has a 1.3 lead in bWAR, trails fWAR by 0.7. It's really not egregious.
  13. Dallas Keuchel is really good. If you want to complain, look at Kluber not getting taken while Brad Boxberger did.
  14. Arrieta is going to fly by his high in innings, may play a role.
  15. I bet we randomly beat the [expletive] out of Sale tomorrow.
  16. Getting Carlos Gomez would be pretty great. For what it would take to get them I would rather have Parra. He's been more productive this year anyway and we're talking about a rental. Who, Gerardo? Gomez seemingly has been better than him whether you go by Fangraphs or BR, he's younger and he's signed through next year. Right, meaning he's going to cost a lot more to get on top of the in division premium you'll probably have to pay. Parra is a good fit in just about every way. 17. I hope Richard gets released so I can stop seeing people call him Richards. And because he's bad at baseball.
  18. Isn't the price supposed to be crazy cheap? I don't think the Phils want him around their clubhouse anymore, and they don't want his option to vest for next year. Option will vest with 19 more games finished this season, and 1. they likely are afraid of a grievance for pulling a "proven closer" from the role while he's having a great year and 2. Macphail seems the the type that tries to "do good" by players and doesn't view it as right to pull him for contract purposes. We on the other hand 1. have plausible deniability in that Papelbon is new to the team, and we have a closer(ish) already and 2. Told the MLBPA to suck it, we're bringing up Kris Bryant as early as humanly possible while delaying his free agency a year
  19. Digging around for some Sierra Mist Out of Nyquil caps?
  20. Shocked the Marlins were in that span, but they did make it there.
