  1. I guess nobody wants to weigh in on this? I'll probably go with Jones or Jackson (right now have them in that order). I'd say Hightwoer, but sneaky's already been burnt by me once.
  2. My nightmare scenario: Cubs sign Jason Varitek to push Soto, Soto winds up getting about 300 PAs because Tek is a good "game caller" Cubs trade Milton Bradley + a dump truck full of cash for a couple of relief prospects. Cubs trade Zambrano for Magglio Ordonez With all the money saved, the Cubs sign Chone Figgins to a 5/60 deal. With the bump in payroll Cubs sign Jon Garland/Joel Pineiro/Randy Wolf to 4/44. What the Cubs should do: Re-sign Rich Harden. Explore a Roberts deal without giving up elite prospects or a Reyes deal while giving up an elite prospect. Kick the tires on DeRosa or Hudson for a 2 year deal. If none of these work stick with what you've got and figure out what you need in the summer. DFA Miles
  3. Grind grind grind.
  4. You forgot the player option for the third year. Unfortunately, Hendry won't forget. NO TRADE CLAUSE
  5. He still could have been out of that inning with the lead if we have a real shortstop. I realize it was only one occasion, but Randy Wells seemed to be ok escaping a 3-error inning with only 2 runs. The defense may not have helped Zambrano, but he shouldn't completely fall apart whenever something bad happens. Look at Zambrano's unearned run totals in his career. Look, the guy melts down like crazy. When on, he has Ace stuff, but as soon as you see him start sweating and stomping around the mound its time to warm up the pen. This year has been worse than others, probably because hes frustrated by the way the season has gone as a whole, but looke at Lilly and Wells who keep their cool in the same situations aside from an isolated glove throwing incident. Hilarious.
  6. Trever Miller is 36 and has never been good before. I think instead of signing Grabow, the Cubs should sign John Lackey to the same 3Y/3M deal Grabow will certainly sign.

  8. Yep, just like game 2 of the NLDS when he [expletive] melted down by getting ground ball after ground ball. Get one [expletive] clue about anything.
  9. Obviously the reporter wrote in abbreviations and the such but how does it make it into the published story. Maybe they were watching a football game while they wrote it.
  10. :-)) Christina Kahrl is the worst. Buster Olney is worse.
  11. Why is everyone pretending like Grabow will sign for multiple years at a lower salary than he makes now?
  12. Grabow career vs. lefties: 262/.327/.380 Fossum career vs. lefties: .264/332/.388 I'm not saying Fossum is ideal(i'd give Gaub shot #1 and our other lefties shots 2 thru 4), this is just how badly I don't want John Grabow back on some dumbass 3 year contract. Really? Dumb-A is censored?
  13. MSU lost to CMU. Although Central is probably the best team in the MAC, that ain't saying much. I think ND will crush them. And that's saying something.
  14. I don't think it's a stretch to consider Marshall and Gorz as better than Grabow without even considering the rookies.
  15. Is he an idiot?
  16. I wouldn't be opposed to Grabow if only to satisfy the "must have a veteran presence in the pen" doctrine and guarantee you have at least one lefty therefore reducing the likelihood of them freaking out in March and demanding to get a lefty. I see that, I just hate that we're back to Dusty-proofing thhe team.
  17. Heilman isn't on a contract for next year. The way to find a taker for him is to non-tender him, and I believe they will. Marmol/Gooz/Marshall/Gorz/Pick 2/3 is my pen.
  18. Blah blah blah blah. Amen! If he didn't extend Grabow, people would be complaining that Hendry left them short a lefty in the bullpen. I'd rather start the year with Casey Fossum as a LOOGY than spend money 4M a year on Grabow. Apparently you have inside information about the negotiations. Fine, you got me, if John Grabow's agent is mentally handicapped, and gets him signed to a 2Y/1M extension I'm all about this. Farnsworth is making 4.25M this year and hasn't been any good since '05. And you can be damn sure that Hendry is judging Grabow solely on his ERA as a Cub(maybe how many holds he has too) He's making 2.3M this year, what do you think he'd be signed for?
  19. Rough survivor week. I took Tennessee

  21. Zambrano's underrated by most Cub fans due to A. his temperment B. not taking into account the value his offense provides per start That said, I have no issue trading him if we can get actual talent in return. Dumping his contract in a repeat of '04-'05's get rid of the cancers is not something I'd endorse.
  22. Paul Sullivan doesn't know anything about anything. (Besides being hideous, he knows a lot about that.)
  23. Good read. I dont think it even mentioned the obvious. On 4th and goal from the 1 USC mans up and scores a TD....OSU kicks a FG(losing all momemtum) Kicking a FG from the 1 is almost always the wrong decision.
