    Not just they would be pissed if this became a pattern, but the MLBPA would likely file a grievance. And I'm guessing the commisioner would lean on a team pretty hard who made no bones about the fact that they're trying to intentionally lose down the stretch.

    And 0 AL teams have been officially eliminated from contention. The A's are the only team not on baseball reference's wild card standings page They include all teams within 10 games. A .500 team in the NL would be 11.5 out.

    This doesn't make a ton of sense to me. Hamels was a guy teams should acquire even if not competitive this season but with plans to do so next. True? But you pay a premium to outbid teams who need him this year.

    I imagine there was a lot of keystrokes spilled on Rangers boards about how it was a waste of prospects to acquire Hamels in a year they weren't competitive.

    I'd take him at 3/30, guessing he'll go for the 1 year deal though.

    I got some nice incredulous responses on the Illinois board when I disputed that Molina was a 1st ballot HOFer if he retired tomorrow. Saying Lou Brock probably didn't belong either really set them off.

    But then he wrestled the glove of Gonzalez after he'd caught the ball. I don't think anyone has an issue with him going for the ball hit right at him.

    Part of me thinks we'd have gone after Friedman. If we missed, my honest guess is we'd still have Jed. My guess is since Ricketts was talking to the Red Sox guys so much back then, Theo would have steered him that way and he would have listened. I don't think Jed leaves without Theo. oh I can go to a really shitty team with no money? Sign me up Tommy!!

    Humans enjoy many delicious things. Pancakes, waffles and French toast are all delightful options that can be enjoyed at different times, or sometimes all at once. I'm intrigued
