Assuming we make the playoffs, there was going to be a push for a Cub for MVP due to narrative and sportswriter stupidity. Rizzo is easily our best position player. Maybe if Arrieta piled up a gaudy win total he'd get some really dumb writer support, but probably not as long as Rizzo keeps donging.

The Braves starter has a boring name and is very good. On the bright side he is no longer a Cardinal. On the sad side, that means he probably will live to have a full career of being good. The Cubs are on game 2 of what is hopefully an 80 game win streak. -
Also, the last time I questioned whether Billy Beane was broken, he ran off 3 straight playoff appearances, so I'll keep my stupid mouth shut.

I want to believe that there was some next-level thinking behind it that we don't understand, but I think he just tilted and made a mistake. He did also trade Josh Donaldson with 4 years of arbitration left on his contract. He's made a few head-scratchers lately. I thought that was a worse trade than the Russell deal. I assume he always intended to flip Samardijza after the half season to recoup some long-term value. Now watch Barretto will go on to be a stud.

The Royals did the same thing last year. I think they do it to save for confusion when it comes to refunds for games not played. Or, they're all rich dudes who are investing the money and making interest off it while they hold it for us. And then I'm sure they'll just apply the refunds as a credit for next year's tickets. You have the option.
