We've got our all-world mega-ace going in the WC game. How'd we get him again? By going huge on a free agent in the offseason, or by spreading it around on lots of pitching bets? We also saw what happened when we signed Edwin Jackson to a 4 year deal, so hopefully we can dump Lester and replace him with Jeremy Hellickson and Mike Montgomery.

I kind of don't want 1/3rd of our payroll in 2017 tied up in a pair of 33-year-old pitchers. I don't want to be pondering a bullpen game in the 2016 playoffs. Exactly. So let's fix the pitching depth this offseason. Yes, more Jason Hammels, who we are pondering skipping for a bullpen game.

I don't know if I could be friends with a Cardinal fan. It might be a litmus test for me. He'd have to have a great personality. Personality goes a long way. He'd have to be one charming mother [expletive] Cardinal's fan. I mean he'd have to be 10 times more charming Jon Hamm. I've DATED Cardinals fans. Never in October though, come to think of it.

i'd say he's right more often than most and he has a lot of knowledge of baseball and the things he's talking about even if he doesn't know stuff like what hand mike minor throws with or which one is paul blackburn and which is duane underwood. Mojo would kindly request you stop making people up.

It makes perfect sense to extend the benefit of the doubt to our FO at this point. Why people are giving the benefit of the doubt to ownership when it comes to finances is rather baffling.

Sure. But the only reason it's fun to laugh at *them* and not the millions of other idiots is because they disagreed with you on a specific subject. Just like the only reason it's fun to post stats stripped of context is because they vaguely allude to a real point I like to argue. Most of them showed a fundamental lack of understanding of well, anything.

Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, but I thought Wood was quoted earlier this year saying that the club should welcome Sosa back. I stand corrected if true. There's not really that many people left in the organization that would have been personally upset with Sosa. Crane Kenney is the most prominent person I can think of still with the Cubs but I'm sure I'm missing someone. It's pretty clearly a directive from metaball Ricketts

Meatball manager rule book says you can't get a save at home tied after the 8th, so it's ok to pitch your closer right away. On the road you wait until you have a lead to save or you lose with your worst pitcher on the mound -

You mean like they got the snap off but because they kicked it after the play clock hit zero the refs called delay of game? there was no play clock on screen so I can't be certain, but I'm pretty sure the call was delay of game for kicking the ball on a dead ball situation

I'm pretty sure Ohio just got a delay of game penalty called on them because they kicked the FG after the last second timeout. Real shitty call
