  1. Agreed, but I can't think of four "solid moves" that could be made. Gonzalez and Lee would be two. But it would take at least one more player of that magnitude and perhaps two to turn this team around. I don't think the Cubs would have the cash or the prospects to pull another one off. You think the Cubs are 2 MVP candidates AND 2 Cy Young candidates away from being a contender?
  2. Fine Brandon, I'll root for you guys
  3. No. Not unless he has a great week at Whistling Straits. His play right now combined with the distraction would leave him off the team if I were captain. I agree that's probably the smart thing to do if winning is the only goal. But if exposure and TV ratings are another goal, and we all know there are, there will be a lot of pressure on Pavin to at least offer Woods one of the captain's picks. He's also the best player. You can add another nobody to the bottom of the roster in his place, but you're probably better off seeing if Tiger can regain his form in a couple months. Maybe he needs a team atmosphere to do it instead of the world against Tiger situation he's been in since Thanksgiving. Maybe his teammates won't want to have to deal with him and the drama?
  4. No, he's not valuable. He's not hurting the team, but he's not valuable. It's your stance that Soriano is bringing no value to the team?
  5. Minnesota Wake Forest Northwestern/GA Tech - I don't have a clue what GT looks like. I'd lean towards NU. Ohio State Clemson Illinois Boston College Wisconsin Purdue Maryland Duke Moral of the story, the bottom of the Big 10 is awful.
  6. [expletive], who do I root for now? Can Jimmy's presence outweigh the pure evil that is Dusty Baker?
  7. Only the Cubs would give up something like that
  8. This offense really is frustrating. Although it looks like we developed a decent back of the rotation starter out of pretty much nowhere, so at least there's that. Wells?? He's more than a decent back of the rotation starter
  9. Hardy har har They probably used it like the normal phrase because only stupid meathead Cub fans make towel jokes because they're too [expletive] ignorant to realize what the towel drill even is
  10. Penn State football = MSU basketball for the Big 10. They're (almost) always really good, and for whatever reason you can't hate them.
  11. This is the same thing DeRosa had, so Silva's rotundness may not be to blame
  12. Brandon Rush and Darrell Arthur say so through their interpreters.
  13. If Cal didn't have bad luck he wouldn't have any luck at all.
  14. Check out the CatsPause board for all kinds of good times.
  15. Take it to the college football thread.
  16. Scalabrine's pretty clearly the worst player that got actual minutes on a good team. But worst overall, isn't Aaron Gray still in the league?
  17. I'm sure Bill Murray could fit 20 trips to Wrigley into his schedule
  18. Who is... not Tommy Lasorda?
  19. http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/media/act_brian_scalabrine.jpg
  20. Hinrich isn't awful looking
  21. Careful on that limb Herbstreit
  22. I'm sure the guy from the Turkish league will pretty things up.
  23. I haven't been following the Dawson recruitment, but I was under the impression that he was a lock to Purdue. I assumed everyone's talk about age rules were with regard to the NBA instituting it. You're right though, the NBA has no reason to institute it.
  24. So you changed his name to Starlin.
  25. Poor choice of words there Derrick.
