  1. Of course, the Cubs pitching is above average
  2. There are like 6 people on this board who grew up in Chicago apparently
  3. The Royals could very well covet someone like Colvin..................... I wonder if they'd be willing to give up a good A ball prospect. William Myers or John Lamb would be nice, maybe too nice. Danny Duffy. A package of Colvin and other pieces for Hosmer would fit the Cubs organizational needs nicely but the Royals have very little motivation to trade Hosmer with how well he's doing. Actually with Hosmer advancing through their system as quickly as he is, including Colvin in a package of players for Billy Butler, who is about to get more expensive, would be ideal. I think Hosmer is kinda untouchable. I want the Hawaiian 1B. I think Colvin straight-up would easily do it. I think that's overpaying. I'd be surprised if Colvin doesn't have quite a bit of value at the moment
  4. [expletive], I just had the image of Castro sacrificing 30 times a year under Sandberg's tutelage.
  5. Needs more CAPS and EXCLAMATION POINTS
  6. Nah, I disagree with that. The Cubs have the fanbase they do due to the size of the city they play in, their longevity and, most of all, WGN TV and radio. Anyone who defines themselves as a Cubs fan by the team's futility is just the worst. It's not the futility, it's the desire to end the futility. If you were right, I would have been a fan of the Braves instead of the Cubs, because the Braves are on TV almost every day in the south, and have been for decades. Where are all the White Sox fans? Based on your criteria, wouldn't they have the 3rd or 4th largest fan base? I think they fall in the 20ish range? White Sox don't have national coverage and the Braves had national coverage for like a blip compared to what the Cubs have had between WGN TV and radio. Atlanta is also a much smaller market and city than Chicago and they've only had the Braves for 44 years. White Sox games on WGN are broadcast nationally just like Cubs game. They weren't on WGN for a long time, they were on closed-circuit, then Chicago only cable, which is why the Cubs are popular and the White Sox are not
  7. Neither can Mississippi
  8. Often the description of the South Side of Chicago... You ain't whistling dixie
  9. We need guys like Colvin who don't strike out every time a runner is on unlike that lazy Soriano

People picked up the Cubs, nobody gave a [expletive] about the White Sox
  11. If somebody kicked you in the back with metal spikes you might be upset for a couple days. If that's your definition of being "a little bitch" then I guess you're right. If that garbage happened to Dempster this board would be melting down right now. Now is Carpenter's being upset going to help him or hurt him in his next start? And GVilleCubs would applaud Dempster being kicked.
  12. I said back this back in April. This organization is so [expletive] frustrating
  13. I think it's pretty impressive to graduate your top 2 prospects, and another top 10 and still be middle of the pack
  14. Time to call in Joe Flaherty.
  15. ...I see. Based on this knowledge, my question still stands, why didn't Cueto get hit hard until 5 innings after the fight?
  16. ...I see.
  17. I think it's a foolish venture to try to attribute anything from a 3 game set to an intangible factor like this. If we're going to, I see 2 issues with it: The Cardinals went down relatively quietly in the first 3 innings. If there was to be a carry-over effect from the comments and the fight, wouldn't it have been immediate? If any pitcher were to be affected by the fight, it would be Carpenter, since he was actually pitching that day while being involved in the skirmish. You think Cueto's involvement in the fight so rattled him that it threw him off his game a day later? And like the Cardinals the day before on tape delay, this time til the 6th inning when he started to get hit hard?
  18. Why weren't the Reds motivated by the fight? Why weren't the Cardinals motivated by playing the 1st place team in the division?
  19. So you think Phillips made the Cardinals play better or the Reds play worse?
  20. the cards have the ability to get better at baseball when they're mad? those guys are awesome In a tight division race, where it may come down to one or two games, getting the Cardinals fired up enough to sweep the Reds could potentially be a big deal. Yeah, there's still 50 games or so left in the season, but this series may become pivotal, or at least be looked upon as a turning point. It's not a matter of the Cards becoming better at baseball, it's a matter of the Reds giving up a game or two in a race where there's no margin for error. How are they giving up a game or two due to Phillips's comments if not from the Cards becoming better at baseball?
  21. Wait. The Giants moved Aubrey Huff to LF as a defensive switch?
  22. Marshall threw 26 pitches Monday, 19 yesterday. Marmol threw 32 pitches yesterday, so at most was only available for 1 inning.
