    I can't decide if you actually don't know the players' names or not. Was the "center fielder" really a joy to watch as he collapsed down the stretch?

    There are 8 teams in the playoffs. 2(!!) have presidents that are "baseball men" (Nolan Ryan and Schuerholz, who I'm quite sure does nothing but collect paychecks) The Reds have Jocketty as President of Baseball Operations/GM, and the other 5 have those dirty rotten outsiders.

    I don't know what annoys me more people who argue for relegation or people who argue that the Cubs need a team president whose background is in baseball. Can you name more than 4 other team presidents that aren't team president/GM?

    After 3 years of pretty similar results - short of a huge last three games - what you see is what you get. Great in March/April - decent enough in May (less so this year) and then he is all over the place but there is always two months in the last four where he is absolutely absymal. What?? That's not a pattern at all. -The first season he steadily declined throughout the year. -Last year he was good for 2 months, sucked for 1 , good for 2, sucked for one. -This year he was great for 1, sucked for 3, great for 1, sucked for 1.

    The only teams I normally wouldn't root for at least have Edmonds and Wood on them respectively. Phillies just won too, so [expletive] them I guess

    The average is terrible, but his OBP is quite good for a guy with a sub-.200 BA and he still managed a .433 SLG in a down year with a terrible BA. He seems to be a very up and down player (.843 and .892 OPS in 2007 and 2009, .779 and .753 OPS in 2008 and 2010), but his walk rate has improved each of the past 4 years and he generally has a decent or better slugging (.458-.543 from 2007 to 2009). His horrid average this year could make him pretty cheap as well, considering the possibility (probability?) of a rebound in production next year. The strikeouts don't concern me that much. He seems like a poor man's Adam Dunn, to be honest. My thought exactly. We need a 1B, not a 3B or pretend RF. Can you imagine Dunn, Reynolds, and Soriano in the same lineup? Lots of HRs?

    Fans of other teams argue which WS team was better. We're reduced to this. sad. I'd prefer to not be lumped in with the Only the Cubs crowd, thank you very much

    Why is that explanation necessary. It's not like it's rare that a GM hires and fires a manager while keeping his job.
