  1. Actually, the Yankees did. They just don't count because they made the playoffs. Then the Yankees didn't WASTE their money, now did they? If they could've made the playoffs without spending as much, then yes they did.
  2. So you're telling me I shouldn't bench Forte for Hillis?
  3. Why didn't anybody tell me that's what the book was about?
  4. Be sure to credit @TheKapMan for this anyway.
  5. not realistically,. but stranger things have happened. they aren't entirely untalented. Creek looked like he could be a star last year when he played. And I have hope that Watford will take a huge step forward. Get some improvement from guys like Elston, Hulls, and get a freshman to step up and this team could be very interesting. Creek also was on the team when they lost to Boston, George Mason, and Loyola (MD) and is coming back from injury. It's asking a lot for the team to take that kind step forward just based on improvement, and a guy with 12 games collegiate experience returning from injury. The way I understand it, none of the freshmen for Indiana are ready to make any sort of immediate impact.
  6. Not really. I think IU is a clear eighth-best at this point, which is promising progress. Any higher than that would be really, really difficult. At this point I just want to finish .500 overall and wherever that puts us in the Big Ten standings, so be it. NIT OR BUST! :stickman: 6-12 (+ a BTT win)might get it done. The bad teams in their nonconference are REALLY bad.
  7. We no longer have the longest active postseason losing streak as Minnesota just reached 10 games with theirs
  8. Thank you RCN for getting my cable up in time for the last out.
  9. Because he'd be nothing like your description of what made Brenly a good announcer.
  10. Sounds similar to Shin-Soo Choo, which isn't exactly a bad thing. Considering Choo posted a 5.7 WAR this past season, that's actually a really good thing. Sign me up for a solid defensive .300/.380/.480 out of centerfield for 2012 and beyond. I'm not sure Brett will fit in with the South Korean military
  11. What did we get for ARam? And Zambrano? $$$. ARam opted out and didn't re-sign. Got prospects for Zambrano and Fukudome and paid some of his salary. So, they could afford to give 4 year/ $40 Mil contracts to DeJesus, De La Rosa, and Inge. We could probably get Inge for 8 year/40M
  12. Holy hell, what happened to Vazquez this year?
  13. You mean 2 minutes ago, or 5 minutes ago, or 6 minutes ago, or 6 minutes 7 seconds ago, or 9 minutes ago.............................. They are showing him a lot. See we do need a baseball man.
  14. If Ricketts wanted Hendry's role reduced, he'd fire him. Hiring a president to guide the direction of the baseball operations is demoting Hendry to assistant GM. Your best (probably still unrealistic)hope is for Hendry to be promoted to team president.
  15. This season listening to him tell stories about slumpbusters would have been better than the actual Cubs. "So this one time I fucked a fat chick" OOOH TELL IT AGAIN MARK
  16. IF RICKETTS DIDN'T WANT HENDRY FIRED WHY WOULD HE GRANT A TEAM PRESIDENT THE RIGHTS TO FIRE HIM
  17. You just know [expletive] Ricketts would bring in that loudmouth son of a bitch Grace if Brenly were to leave.
  18. I'll miss his analysis minus the ax grinding against certain players.
  19. That RB situation looks pretty shaky. Is Tolbert going to stay the starter the entire year? Is LT going to hold up? I'd probably stand pat.
  20. Jim Hendry needs to be fired, but we know they won't do that!! They should hire a baseball man to fire Jim Hendry since they won't do it!! You think the thought process going on in the front office is, "hey, let's bring in this old fart to be our president cause he's been in baseball for 50 years. President: Thank you gentleman, it's great to be here, my first act of business is to fire Jim Hendry!! Ricketts: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Foiled again
  21. Or you go get a GOOD GM. But, do you have the faith in this organization to actually go and do THAT????? If the reason the Cubs can't get a good GM is because the organization is dumb, why can we get a good, baseball lifer President?
  22. His wife's face tripped over a bag too
