  1. There are now no active players who debuted before my intern was born. I'm so horsefeathering old.
  2. lol, this poll was posted a week ago, and there have been a total of 184 votes.
  3. Ghosts. Zombies are the ones that require half a roll.
  4. Girardi is a total redass, but the Yankees are only 3.5 games out of the WC.
  5. well it's being played in 2020 since they are coming back to Japan there's plenty of actually good non-MLB players who can participate http://m.mlb.com/cutfour/2016/08/03/193447960/photo-of-the-day-2008-olympics-baseball-team-featured-jake-arrieta-stephen-strasburg-and-more I can only assume they had the 2008 Olympics talk that Lebron, Wade, and Bosh did.
  6. Baseball Reference except when referencing WAR because Dave Cameron is a horsefeathering doofus.
  7. Since I haven't seen anything about a serious illness, I just assumed heart attack. I've spent a lot of time on Illinois's off-topic board, so I can only assume Hillary Clinton ordered him to be killed.
  8. If LaStella won't report to the minors, we're going to have to search for a lefty bat because we won't have LaStella on the major league roster...
  9. I don't believe Dusty was hired to manage every game like it was his last.
  10. Well, that's your first mistake... Should've listened to Derwood.
  11. No. I remember being upset that the Delgado thing fell through, then there was the whole he'd only accept a trade to the Dodgers so they had all the leverage and we'd end up being screwed, then I remember being relieved when we ended up with a the kind of package that we'd expected to get before Delgadogate happened; a back end of the top 100 prospect (Villanueva) and maybe another piece (Hendricks.) You're lucky I'm too lazy to look up what you actually wrote.
  12. I think my favorite is a lesser known game. It was on my bday in 2003 and Z hit a three run bomb off of Wade Miller to beat them(we were down 2-0 late). Not quite as big of a comeback, but pretty improbable. Didn't we have a decent sized comeback vs the cards in 03? Came back from down 6-0 (on a JD Drew grand slam off of Felix Sanchez?) to win. This may have been the front end of a DH with the Alfonseca belly bump. ETA: The DH was the day before. Woody Williams came on in relief, and wound up losing 2 games in that series.
  13. Like Baker and Piniella before him... What in the world?
  14. I wouldn't be thrilled at having declared bankruptcy a couple years ago. Olympics held in the US are typically profitable. I believe Lake Placid is the exception to the rule. Mayor Daley boondoggles on the other hand...
  15. Should've listened to @thekapman. 5 days off would fix this for sure.
  16. These last years would have been hell if Chicago had gotten them. But I'd be trilled to have all the infrastructure improvements going forward. I wouldn't be thrilled at having declared bankruptcy a couple years ago.
  17. Dammit, I was texted that rumor 19 minutes before that tweet. There goes my big break at being like that 16 year old kid with hot stove reports.
  18. Trying to affect change in one state in the country you're domiciled is different than trying to affect change in another country of 1.3B people.
  19. I honestly had no idea it was a derogatory term. I thought it was just short, like the way it is for "transmission". I know a guy who is dating a girl that has a penis, and he refers to her as a tranny. My bad. No you don't.
  20. I concur. STAY AWAY FOR YOUR OWN SANITY THE GREY. OMG OMG THE GREY That turned south pretty quickly
  21. He put up his best ORtg, DRtg, and Win Shares his senior year. He was quite clearly the linchpin to the Illinois defense his final 2 seasons, and all of this came after he was a gangly goof on offense and a foul machine on defense his first season. A player can develop without turning into an all-conference player, this shouldn't be that difficult. And, so we're clear in response to other stats being too dependent, you went with Win Shares?
  22. Now we're on win shares. More importantly what did your eyes say for the 5 times that you watched him. That's what's most important.
