  1. Who said anything about dollars being close? Nobody ever said Pujols would leave St. Louis over a negligible amount of money. That's a COMPLETELY different argument. And that brings me back to Albert. The Cardinals offered him a very substansial package to stay there. There is no way the Cubs are going to blow the offer the Cardinals made him out of the water. NOT. GOING. TO. HAPPEN. If the Cubs offered him 210M over the course of the contract to the Cards 200M, he'd most likely stay in STL and it has everything to do with loyalty to an organization. If the Cubs offered 250M, that is different. But again, that is also not happening. But you think if the Nationals offered him 210M, he'd go there?
  2. When did Sandberg SAY that? And the Cubs already said to him: "No thanks". He has no choice but to look at other opps. If MB or Pujols sign here, I will be the first to admit I was wrong. When did Sandberg say what? You're wrong whether they sign here or not. Answer the question I already asked you...do you really think that if the Cubs made the clear best offer to Buehrle (which they won't, because they aren't dumb enough to overpay for him...and with as much interest as there is in him, he will be overpaid), he would pass up the most money and being able to stay in Chicago just because he played for the White Sox and he once made fun of Wrigley Field (as a member of the White Sox)? I can't answer that because I am not Buehrle. All things being equal, if both the Cubs and White Sox offered him a fair contract (and that is basically what either team can offer at this point) but ours was worth slightly more, I think he would stay on the South Side. Belive it or not, sometimes players do feel a loyalty towards an organization and it's fan base if the dollars are close. Feeling loyalty to your current team has nothing to do with refusing to play for their rival.
  3. I've still never forgiven Grudzielanek and Dunston. They'll be turning 2 in hell as far as I'm concerned.
  4. Where did you read that? Too many times he has made snarky comments about our fans, stadium and team. Read between the lines and you know he is not coming here. Just like Jim Edmonds.
  5. It wouldn't be a shock if a 6-6 Northwestern team was left out in the cold as well.
  6. 5 and a half years here.
  7. GO TIMMY
  8. So the Cubs told him he wouldn't get the job. I don't see how someone could take those quotes any other way, especially considering the report that he was nearly begging Theo for the job, and interviewed with St. Louis and didnt get the job. He's saving face I guess. It was all part of Theo's masterplan to make Francona look good by saying he was a candidate and then not hiring him!!! That and trading Chris Duncan.
  9. So the Cubs told him he wouldn't get the job.
  10. I bet CC has some weirdo fetish about her.
  11. Matt Szczur's hairstyle reminds him of Juan Pierre's
  12. More than I'd give him. Chen is a serviceable starter, but not something we need. We need a front end starter. We have enough back end options if need be. Yeah I'd shoot him instead
  13. The White Sox will love it since they've spent $62 on the amateur draft the last 2 years. Oh hey, isn't there some sort of friendship between their owner and Selig?
  14. Paterno sold his house to his wife for $1 in July.
  15. I [expletive] hate the marlins. But their owner is so selfless and likable! I hear he has residences in Iowa and Milwaukee.
  16. Kams smelled like that back in the '80's. Disagree, the smoke smell hid the overwhelming vomit smell.
  17. I'm guessing the pending lawsuit from the Davis family is why he can't afford to trim that eyebrow.
  18. Hhaa, that entire exchange is hilarious.
  19. There's absolutely no way we get a young mid rotation starter in return for Geo. And Varitek's going to be 40 next season. Ugh, no.
  20. Yeah Phil, they'd probably make Cashner the closer to Marshall can go be a LOOGY. I wonder how long it's going to take the Chicago sports media to even somewhat catch up.
  21. This full year of rest is going to be great for my guys's osteoperosis.
  22. Especially if they contract the Bulls.
