  1. They are awesome because they are win or go home games, which are rare since most series don't go 5 or 7. What's the point of a 3 game series? Everybody acknowledges that 5 games series are too short, a 3 game series is going to be quite random. It's not anymore fair, but it will be an incredible waste of time and very difficult to do with travel and other obstacles. I prefer a no game series. Let's determine the winner based on some sort of tiebreaker. Most wins is preferred, but I'm open to fewest losses as well.
  2. I don't care if he was a shitty base coach.
  3. why should we sign this guy when we can just platoon six guys in cf who all put up wars up 0.5 last year and get a 3 win player? Ahhh, the Bobby Howry plan.
  4. 1 game playoffs are awesome because they're rare. This sucks.
  5. Season series? I'd hope so.
  6. What if there's a tie for a division? Are we going to have a 1 game playoff between those teams to see who gets to play in a 1 game playoff for the wild card?
  7. Why? I'm not sure where I stand yet. The possiblility of 3rd place teams and/or teams with the 5th best record in their league having a chance to win the world series. http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/NL/2006.shtml YES, THIS WAS GREAT LET'S TRY AND GET MORE OF THIS
  8. On the flip side of giving a spot to what could be the 5th best team in the league, you're also giving the 91 win Indians the advantage over the 102 win A's because they happen to be in the midwest. The A's get to play the 85 win Twins in a coin flip for the chance to go play the 95 win Yankees. Should've stayed in Philly, Athletics!
  9. Must be something about the state of Missouri
  10. To be replaced by wild card races where both teams know they are getting in and don't care who has the better record.

  12. I really don't.
  13. Could somebody compile a list of Boston writers for me to troll on twitter once the compensation issue is settled?
  14. baaaaaahahahaha
  15. They've won the conference 7 years in a row, I think. Even though this looks like a down year for the Jayhawks I still have them at the top until someone knocks them off. If they had someone who could coach, Baylor would be scary. They have a ton of talent. Texas lost a lot from last year. A&M has a new coach and several new faces in the rotation, so who knows how we'll turn out. Not sure about Mizzou or Okie Lite. They've claimed to have won the conference 7 years in a row at least.
  16. Until proven otherwise I'm assuming they all go back and giggle themselves to sleep after saying that [expletive]. Yeah. Just as one speaks in brief, direct phrases when conversing with a child, Theo and Jed must speak meatball in order to communicate with the Chicago sports media. Can you imagine if they attempted to explain player evaluation in terms of objective analytical metrics to Kaplan? He'd become confused and flustered, take off his suit coat and try to fight them. That suit coat isn't coming off for anyone.
  17. That can't possibly protect his assets can it? I mean, if that's the case wouldn't everyone facing a losing civil suit just 'gift' all their assets to other people? they're not going to get joe pa's house if they get a civil judgment against him. and his house isn't worth much. He's lived in the same house forever....some 60's Brady Bunch house looking dwelling. he's hardly living it up in a mansion behind golden gates. OH REALLY??

  19. Who said anything about dollars being close? Nobody ever said Pujols would leave St. Louis over a negligible amount of money. That's a COMPLETELY different argument. And that brings me back to Albert. The Cardinals offered him a very substansial package to stay there. There is no way the Cubs are going to blow the offer the Cardinals made him out of the water. NOT. GOING. TO. HAPPEN. If the Cubs offered him 210M over the course of the contract to the Cards 200M, he'd most likely stay in STL and it has everything to do with loyalty to an organization. If the Cubs offered 250M, that is different. But again, that is also not happening. But you think if the Nationals offered him 210M, he'd go there?
  20. When did Sandberg SAY that? And the Cubs already said to him: "No thanks". He has no choice but to look at other opps. If MB or Pujols sign here, I will be the first to admit I was wrong. When did Sandberg say what? You're wrong whether they sign here or not. Answer the question I already asked you...do you really think that if the Cubs made the clear best offer to Buehrle (which they won't, because they aren't dumb enough to overpay for him...and with as much interest as there is in him, he will be overpaid), he would pass up the most money and being able to stay in Chicago just because he played for the White Sox and he once made fun of Wrigley Field (as a member of the White Sox)? I can't answer that because I am not Buehrle. All things being equal, if both the Cubs and White Sox offered him a fair contract (and that is basically what either team can offer at this point) but ours was worth slightly more, I think he would stay on the South Side. Belive it or not, sometimes players do feel a loyalty towards an organization and it's fan base if the dollars are close. Feeling loyalty to your current team has nothing to do with refusing to play for their rival.
