But this argument is terrible. *edit I'm also terrible for having Jeff Kent on my mind because we were talking about stupid MVPs UZR/150 2011: -4.7 2010: -27.5 Career in CF: -9.6 He is terrible. Yes, yes his defensive #s in 2010 and his career #s are very relevant here.

    This may make a state of the art training complex even more important, as teams will no longer be able to significantly outbid each other. If they're being offered virtually the same amount of money from every team, odds are they might choose the team whose complex they've been training at. You're talking about 2 different things. There are Dominican academies and there are Dominican facilities for those in the affiliated Dominican leagues.

    Holman threw a potted plant at Crean during a meeting in which, as I recall, Crean was recruiting Holman to stay (or some similar reason). That said, is this something we really need to go through again? I'd love for IU to never stop going through it.

    My post merely stood for the proposition that it would be unfair to consider any of those players "Creaned" for purposes of this discussion (also, I had no desire to dig through who left when, who did what, etc., because I honestly don't recall the entire timeline of those player's departures). In any event, Crean's handling of that situation, in some ways, was a black mark, in my opinion, because I don't believe he actually wanted to clean house. In the end, though, none of those players ever played at IU again. However that happened, it's a positive. Little you remember the permanent stain Kyle Taber and Brett Finklemeyer left on the program.

    I'm not sure if there is something to curtail it, but I'm not sure what it could be other than not allowing teams to sign guys who are already in their system, which seems crazy. So does the IFA cap with the ability to trade parts of your cap to other teams.

    I like how Crean is always given credit for "cleaning house" after Sampson when he made the call to boot like 1 guy off the team and the rest were too drug addled or saddled with 0.0 GPAs to return. ETA: Or ran as far away from Bloomington as fast as possible when they saw what a hole it was. (Crawford, Holman, somebody else?)
