  1. I'm dubious about giving the ownership credit for stadium renovations that still haven't broken ground 2 years later. And it's laughable to give them credit for a tv deal that still hasn't been inked. As if John Canning would have moved them to strictly radio broadcasts
  2. How about the previous ownership that left this organization in the state it was in (and with all of the hindrances it had) when it was sold? The fact that Zell directed them to spend a ton on payroll for the last 3-4 years while they sold the team doesn't absolve them of all their prior terribleness. But, seriously? Look around baseball. Look around baseball? Name me a no doubt worse owner outside of Loria. I'd argue Crane is but really what makes their "process" different from ours? Angelos maybe?
  3. I just can't agree with any of this.
  4. That they want to make sure they have the revenue generators in place before flushing $500 million down the toilet? If this renovation isn't going to make the team money, what's the point of it? Preventing them from losing money when Wrigley Field collapses into a pile of rubble. If it cost that much to keep the thing from collapsing, the better options (from a business perspective) would probably be (1) sell the team, or (2) continue the patchwork repairs until it somebody offers you a good deal for a new stadium. Tell me more about option 1
  5. Turns out dumping a bag of skittles into a high life just makes the beer fizz over. #thingsilearnedincollege
  6. And it's going to turn out to be Crane Kenney in disguise. Krane Cenney Wait. Enarc Yennek
  7. Does anyone know Rahms shoe size? Boys 12
  8. Didn't the Braves offer us an okish prospect for Gregg?
  9. How do you reconcile this post with your later one that shows how shitty a return Tampa did give back. You think they would've given us a top 30 pick, but since they were dealing with the Nats they just said "here, take our garbage?"
  10. 40fWAR as a reliever. That is just absurd. 154th overall for pitchers, just a smidge below Derek Lowe and 8.5 seasons of Felix Hernandez. #1 for relievers by over 10 though.
  11. So they want to kill end of game comebacks?
  12. Swap out Save Opps for Blown Saves. And can we replace putouts with outfield assists?
  13. Nebraska is 11th in the Big Ten in FT shooting. They are 19-21 today.
  14. I would also like to be in.
  15. Are there statistics kept for most shots missed from less than 5 feet for a season. Because we definitely broke it about 3 weeks ago
  16. Not sure if srs but the whole "they don't have the money to start construction right now" angle is hilarious. In what way is it hilarious? The most logical conclusion about the delay is the Cubs have made a decision to stall. Not really, but OK. Goony, you've lost all concept of logic if you really think that. They may have made a decision to stall because of lawsuit potential, but there's not even a bit of an inkling that they would stall this project because of a lack of funds. Not extend payroll, yeah, maybe, but they're not so broke they can't start the renovations. They have to start the renovations with the advertising, what does that tell you about their finances?
  17. In interest of confidentiality, let's juts call her Beth M
  18. If it's what I'm thinking of it was a pretty terrible article on FG that said since he had his best success against the worst offenses he wasn't that good. Well, most pitchers are going to have their best successes against the worst offenses.
  19. Any chance we could pick up Ken Huckaby for our series with them?
  20. Great another [expletive] season of nobody shutting the [expletive] up about a Yankees retirement. I'll be skipping the all star game this season
  21. I'm fairly certain Brey is full of [expletive] considering the semester is 3-4 weeks old and Jackson wasn't even plain clothes on the bench and the game was at the JAC
  22. It's so dickish, and I love it so much
  23. Haha knew exactly where you were talking about Sulley
  24. DJ Newbill scored penn states last 7 points, but he did it over a 12 minute period. Just some horrendous offense down the stretch, I wonder if Nunn starts from here on out
  25. This is the saddest thread. It really reminds us that prospects are not remotely guarantees. I have more confidence on our current regime and system to come through, but at the end of the day, the great plan is simply a venture. Some top 100 prospects of 2001: Montanez -100, Christensen 49, Juan Cruz - 47, Zambrano - 30, Choi - 28, Corey Patterson - 5. In 2002: Kelton - 74, bobby hill - 79, Zambrano - 72, Choi -68, Cruz - 14, Prior - 2. Out of that whole group we netted a front line starter in Prior, and MOR starter in Zambrano a couple years of Patterson and Cruz, and Choi for Lee. Think about our current top 10. Almost half never see the majors, 1 becomes a role player, 1 goes in nice trade, one becomes above average and two potential stars that fall to injury. Again, I think chances are better this go round, but holy cow, that's depressing. If you think big Z was a middle of the rotation starter me and you are going to have words. Wasn't Bobby Hill the centerpiece in the ARam trade? ARam's contract was the centerpiece of the ARam trade. Hill was the PTBNL chosen from a group of him, Beltran, and Smyth. I miss the Pirates being astonishingly awful
