  1. It would almost be funnier to have like 25 people all sitting by each other holding them up. Any group of people can spell out a player's name with 1 letter apiece. It takes true greatness for each fan to hold up your full name.
  2. 1/6M, Pinto, Nolasco, and Mitre for Pierre is better than 5/45 for Pierre.
  3. Road splits for Rockies players aren't the same as road splits for non-Coors players. Beyond not having Coors in its road games along with being in a division full of pitcher's parks, there have been studies attributing a hangover effect to Coors. I don't recall how conclusive the studies were, or how much the humidor affects them, but you can't simply look at Tulo's road splits to another player's and go off of that. Not accusing you of doing this Jenksfan, you did mainly present the #s without comment, but it's why Tulo and Braun are far closer than their base #s show.
  4. I'll take Chip over Joe I'll take Chip over Stockton. Dick Stockton is brutal.
  5. It's too bad, too, since Braun's vorp is a whole 22 points higher than Tulo's. But Tulo's a good defensive player and Braun's a terrible defensive player. I think they're about even.
  6. I'm guessing the archaic blackout rules will be resolved within the next 5 years, but yeah they are absurd. Wanna know why people are down on baseball so much? Becuase everyone from the commisioner to its announcers to the idiots that don't like the sport cause there's not enough "action" keep telling everyone how horrible it is and what's wrong with it. It's articles like this that cause me to go on rants about hating football.
  7. Ryan Braun just took 2nd in Rookie of The Year tonight.
  8. 2 outs, runner on 1B. /nitpick any runner still on first with that rainbow throw and the catcher dropping the ball should be shot. It doesn't matter what kind of throw it is or what happens at the plate, as soon as he sees the guy from 3rd trying to score, he goes to first. Something tells me they're not gonna cut the throw off.
  9. No, he didn't. He blocked it perfectly. McClellan blew the call. THANK YOU. I still think it's possible that Holliday's finger snuck through Barrett's spike and grazed the plate after his spike, but Barrett was not at fault on the play, by the time the ball got to him, Holliday was sliding in. He could catch the ball cleanly, and he still would've had to run down the prone Holliday and tag him out. Barrett's the only reason there's a damn controversy because he did a great job of blocking the plate, not allowing an inch for Holliday to hit home plate on the corner.
  10. I'm really sick of everyone telling me what's wrong with baseball.
  11. Any other series would be starting locally at 10:00. I don't understand what you're looking for them to do. The Red Sox and Cubs are in the 2 primetime slots.
  12. I don't see any way that Pie doesn't make the postseason roster. There is a need for a pinch runner, defensive replacement. Lou won't want Daryle Ward running the bases in the 8th, and he won't want Murton or Floyd in RF in the 9th.
  13. Geovany Soto.
  14. Well if the unthinkable happens, then be in Wrigleyville for games 3 and 4 next weekend, because there will be a crapload of us there, and I most certainly plan on being blitzed. I have no tickets, but I would definitely be in the area should the unthinkable happen.
  15. Rieu, screw you! Keith Law, screw you more! I hate Keith Law. Even before this. He always bugged me.. All the more reason to hope the Mets get eliminated. I think his head would explode. Say all you want about the central Keith. but the past two years Central teams have represented the NL in the WS. Last 3 years. Complaining about another team not getting in place of the Cubs/Brewers is pretty crazy considering that other team likely won't even be a 90 win team.
  16. Gonna rock my undefeated Rich Hill shersey tonight.
  17. 20/20 hindsight? People here were down on the trade the second it was rumored. People here hammered it the second it went through. This was sight, not hindsight. Trachsel gave the Cubs one "good" start in which he was extraordinarily lucky to get out of there with a win.
  18. Doesn't this say that they need to recalculate their formula for odds on making the playoffs?
  19. I like Bay as much as the next guy, but that package seems like too much. Take out Marmol and it works. Not for the Pirates it doesn't.
  20. Capuano has lost his last 12 decisions, Brew have lost the last 21 games he's appeared in.
