  1. he pinch hit last night and I didn't see any problems so I would think he will be in the lineup He took 4 pitches. Wasn't too strenuous.
  2. Scott Eyre hasn't given up a run in 8 years.
  3. O_O is right there, go ahead and throw to Jones, he's not healthy.
  4. More upset about the acquisition of Trachsel (actually, most upset about the usage of Trachsel) then the players given up for him. It was pretty obvious that the Cubs had absolutely no desire to keep the first two (they weren't even part of the planned September callups) and looking at those 3 right now, there really isn't a legitimate prospect among the 3. I never thought much of Cherry, but Renshaw and Moore certainly could've got something more valuable in return.
  5. Cause I'm too happy to deal with arguing over refs. Don't rub it in, it's been 10 years for me. It's been my entire life.

  7. Scott Moore, Jake Renshaw, Rocky Cherry.
  8. You shouldn't look at it as using the DH to get Blanco a start. It's using the DH to get Soto a start on what would be a rest day. Soto can't play 162. This gives him an off day without losing his bat.
  9. I encourage as much use of The Todd comparisons as possible.
  10. sure if you call batting .230 and getting 36 rbi good I'd call a 374 OBP with great baserunning good. His defense sucks, but he's still got worlds of potential offensively.
  11. That and the fact that Betancourt doesn't rhyme with Worst. Neither does Wuertz.
  12. I won't hold my breath waiting for mea culpas from the people who said he needs to learn to pitch through pain, that he's not going all out cause he just wants his big free agent contract.
  13. We should probably release him. This Steve Stone analysis just drives me insane, oh the teams through intense research realized that throwing breaking balls low and away is his kryptonite! It has been kryptonite for Soto for about a month, same for Lee, same for Soriano, but for his entire career. You can deny it, but it is true. They aren't working him inside and setting up the ball low and away (Steve Stone analysis), they are starting there and working further away. Soriano's last K yesterday was three feet outside. I think Soto will adjust. According to this all you ever have to do is throw breaking balls low and away and you'll be Steve Nebraska. I've noticed no change in the way Soto's being pitched from the beginning of the year. Then you haven't been paying close enough attention. Nobody ever sees a change in the way a hitter's being attacked when they're doing well. Soto's doing poorly lately, therefore, you're looking for things that aren't necessarily there. Soto was laying off those pitches earlier in the year and walking a ton. Now he's not.

  15. The reason we never made it back to 500 in '06 was cause Scott GF was starting all those threads.
  16. I'd rather it get down to being close with the team we're clearly better than.
  17. How can you use his stat line after admitting he's played 4 games? Vitters is hurt, guys get hurt, I'm not going to write him off because he got hurt 4 games into his first full season.

  19. The Difference between the '08 Cubs and the '07 Brewers, and '07 Reds is that none of them were expected to do anything and those stretches proved to be flukes, where as the '08 Cubs have been labeled one of the best teams in the NL since pre season. Hopefully the '08 Cards can join the '07 Reds and Brewers. I have no clue what you just said there.
  20. The '08 Cardinals have started their season 36-27 The '07 Reds (Final record 72-90) had a 63 game stretch where they went 36-27. (This isn't to say the Cardinals are a 72-90 level team, just pointing out that these runs happen, but since this one's happened at the beginning of the year, everyone freaks out. And the time to freak out was a month ago when the Cardinals were 9 games over, not today, a month later when they've done nothing but tread water.)
