  1. I am, I've suffered through 6 Bulls titles, and the Dino Radja and Rick Pitino eras. This is awesome.
  2. Hank Steinbrenner is WHY MLB doesn't want a clown like Cuban running a team. They already have to deal with Hank Steinbrenner and Jeffrrey Loria as it is. Not really. They had their shot at getting Loria out of the league. Instead, they handed him another team. Contraction was taken off the table so no there wasn't an option but to let him keep the Expos in a move to DC OR to let him take over the Marlins where they felt he would do little damage and let Henry join the Red Sox group. I don't think they thought he would win a WS in a million years after what he did to the Expo franchise. I also think they figured contraction could come up again and the Marlins and their poor attendance, etc would be a likely candidate. I'll never waver in my belief that Loria, Selig, and most of baseball's ownership were willing saboteurs of baseball in Montreal. After the job was done there, he was sent to Florida to do the same. Give me a free stadium or we'll move/get rid of you. Loria/Selig are rotten men, and thick as thieves.
  3. I'm watching a winner!!!!!!!!! ME!!!! A WINNER!!!!
  4. Why are we DHing our worst hitter?
  5. I'm not much of a Hendry apologist, but I'd say he's better than Dan O' Dowd when you realize that O' Dowd has been around forever, usually with bad teams. I think I'd have to (begrudgingly) put Williams over Hendry.
  6. I hear you. There was absolutely no reason to make this move unless something else is going on. People said the same thing last time they pulled this.
  7. The AL isn't baseball. If the Yankees don't want to put their pitchers through the tremendous stress of running the bases then they should strike out on purpose every time they come up. It's not like they have a great chance at getting on base anyway.
  8. All while giving up on a division that is very winnable.
  9. The Indians have no reason to trade Sabathia while 5.5 games back with over half the season to go.
  10. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/1007398,CST-SPT-cubnt16.article Lucky for Lou, he'll get to find out soon enough where we'll be without the young man.
  11. There's not really a time there where it wouldn't take away from the All-Star festivities. With the Futures Game on Sunday, Workout day on Monday, and ASG on Tuesday...there's only Wednesday that it could happen. Also, I doubt MLB would want to put the energy into it then when they are focused on the ASG. The only option to keep a viable game there is either create an exhibition with minor leaguers or have an old-timers game. Neither is nice as having two major league teams come in and play. But with teams focusing on staying rested and fresh and avoiding injuries in a meaningless game, there's not much else that can be done. Have it on Wednesday after the All-Star game and give the two teams who participate the day off Thursday for travel before playing Friday. Better yet, have the All-Star game there every year. People will hand over $20 just to look around. The prices you'd have to charge to go to the game in order to make money would be astronomical.
  12. We got Aramis cheaply because he was scapegoated in Pittsburgh for having the gall to play terribly when they forced him to play a full season on a messed up ankle. Aramis broke out with us because he was healthy.
  13. Yeah, I forgot Jeter, he's probably more overrated(though still a deserving HOF.)
  14. which rules are you referring to? Probably the same rules that Brian Roberts and scads of others broke, yet people would have no problem with those guys on the team. Has anyone stopped being a fan of the Cubs because they didn't outright release Robert Hernandez? Brian Roberts and Robert Hernandez committed perjury too? You think that's why so many people have problems with Bonds? Were we talking about "so many people"? The guy, tspain, simply said he doesn't want Bonds on the Cubs on principle. I'm just saying it's a little absurd to call out the guy by pretending the principle is that Bonds was just another juicer. Well on principle, he shouldn't like Aramis either for taking part in cockfighting. On principle he shouldn't cheer for half the major leaguers who cheat on their wives. There's a lot of bad people in professional sports who have broken laws and some of them probably play for the Cubs. Drawing the line in the sand at perjury seems a little bizarre to me.
  15. Barry Rozner does not approve.
  16. John Gibbons is going to challenge him to a fight.
  17. Because they already had the season where no one gets hurt (2004). Now they get to have the season where everyone gets hurt and they inexplicably play well anyway. It's not luck that teams that can still win despite injuries or that rotations built on rubber arms and guys coming off of injuries can pitch for an entire season. For as much talk about STL playing over their heads, the Cubs have as well. I can't imagine the reaction if the Cards had a mediocre closer turn into a great starter, a catching prospect who projected as a backup turn into a stud in his 3rd go round in AAA, a gritty SS far outperforming his minor league track record, a journeyman 2B turning into a legit all star candidate, an aging ex-Cub CF who looked to be toast turn into a serviceable player to fill the only void on the team, etc.
  18. Sounds painful. Sounds more fun than watching the hall of fame game.

  20. He's averaging over 6 per start this year...and every other(non cup of coffee) year of his career.

  22. This comparison, it's horrible comparison.
