  1. Greenberg’s next reply tweet was how the Ricketts are awarding themselves the first annual Joe Ricketts award for outstanding achievement in the field of excellence.
  2. They spent less than 150M on opening day payroll this year in a season they were ostensibly trying to win baseball games. The ghouls who own the team and their biblical losses [expletive] does not give me optimism. We don't need to run a bottom 5 payroll for their plan to suck.
  3. Best I can see, the list of long-term assets acquired in the 2014 offseason to appear for the 2015 Cubs were Chris Coghlan, Tsuyoshi Wada, and Jason Hammel (1 year deal, then e-signed the following offseason)
  4. Let's give the benefit of the doubt to an ownership group who has never spent money in a season they didn't expect to compete.
  5. I mean no team is ever going to project to be a 120 loss team.
  6. That's for the 75 wins. He says it projects to 71 wins as currently constructed. And that's including Madrigal.
  7. Is that because they seem like a 110 loss team?
  8. My conspiracy theory is he was brought on to get his old teammates to sign on at below market and will be dumped once they start trying again
  9. You can tell Boog and JD do not like Sutcliffe in the booth. I feel like JD will leave as soon as his contract allows
  10. I figured Javy was a really safe play two years ago
  11. You’re calculating win percentage in reverse. Baltimore should be ahead of Texas. KC ahead of Washington and Colorado, and the Cubs ahead of Detroit.
  12. Oops it was Clayton Kershaw
  13. drunk fans who want to watch the games while they bet? That's why people still go to Vegas sportsbooks even though they can bet on their phones, or why people go to Cubs games at Wrigley even though they can watch the games at home. But you can watch the game while you bet...from your seat. If you want to watch all the games you bet on, there are roughly 98 sports bars in a four block radius that don't have a cover charge of a game ticket. I haven't tried yet because why would I bet on this team, but I thought the sportsbook apps do not allow betting on games when inside the stadium. Otherwise a fast finger could get ahead of line changes. Please note: I know nothing about the accuracy of geolocation and whether this is true. I can speak to the fact that I bafflingly have friends who want to spend all day in a sportsbook for an upcoming Vegas trip.
  14. I thought I had a hard time explaining the difference between CBS sports Network and CBS to the bartender
  15. And that guy’s name. Was Richard Nixon
  16. What's that a reference to? Jarred Kelenic I was thinking Lastings Milledge, looked him up and saw he was drafted 18 years ago, and I just...I don't even know.
  17. OMC must be busy at work
  18. I wonder if Cleveland could find a way to shorten Guardians the way Oakland, Baltimore and Seattle did
  19. Add Judge (75) Drop Castellanos (75)
  20. Is it that they’ve actually managed to win a men’s hoops title in the last 20 years and that won’t stand in the Big 10? Maryland won it in the last 19 years so there
  21. Previously Big Ten got way more money from TV carriage in states where teams in the conference were than non Big Ten states. (.10 vs .70). If that’s still the case, then they could look Syracuse, an angry A&M, GA Tech, UNC, UVA, Mizzou(in addition to the ever-present ND wish) That said, If I recall the exit fees ramped up for the big conferences after the last round. Big 12 collapse would solve issues with that for Kansas(3M people but you’d expect near full buy-in for cable), but may make the above not feasible without going into other reasons those schools wouldn’t leave
  22. And I was just checking the old thread to get my best Kansas to the MVC jokes in line. On the plus side I was worried nobody would be here from KU but snood is back!
