  1. I don’t think this is a new gimmick. Auburn basketball just did it like 2 weeks ago
  2. I don’t understand what the point of that would be Not forcing Northwestern to play yet another game (4? 5?) against a team coming off of a Covid bye week? Illinois isn’t coming off a bye.
  3. Bilas apparently got his talking point in advance
  4. I don’t understand what the point of that would be
  5. Who even cares about Michael Jordan?
  6. I imagine Big Ten was hoping for a COVID cancellation on one side so OSU could slot in.
  7. Its in the B1G interest to have OSU in the playoffs. Truth is if the situation was reversed I think they would have put Indiana in the Championship game also. I think the real crime is a 5-0 Indiana probably wouldnt be in the top four currently, even if they beat OSU Disagree on that. They've had no problem putting undefeated no prestige teams in playoff/championship positions before. Kansas, Missouri, South Florida, BC off the top of my head. Now whether Indiana would survive Florida beating Bama and Clemson beating Notre Dame I'm not so sure.
  8. losing len hurt me more than any chicago athlete leaving ever has. i guess we all just assumed that he would be here for a very long time. when was the last time the Cubs lost or any other Chicago team lost a real stud in their prime? I was really bothered when the Cubs lost Maddux. I wasnt shocked because everyone knew it was coming. It still bothers me that the Cubs screwed up so bad with a HoFer and then have the audacity to retire his number. I think the thing with Len is the shock of it. You always get the sense that relationships are ending no matter what level they are on. This completely floored me. Sosa was old and getting bad, but the team's treatment of him was(and still is) really gross.
  9. That scenario involves Clemson beating ND(and Bama beating Florida), and it would break out as ND vs Bama/Clemson v OSU
  10. Forgot we beat Missouri in Underwood's first year. Our only win against an at-large tourney team.
  11. That was incredibly fun. And we were even pretty sloppy with the ball, though going 7-11 from 3 counterbalanced that. Trent Frazier looked like he'd never seen a press before. Kofi needs to play stronger because he's not gonna get the calls at his size. Curbelo plays very young. Giorgi and DaMonte have been spectacular thus far. This was a perfect follow-up after the loss to Baylor, for which there really wasn't any shame.
  12. Fully endorse this as a Notre Dame fan.
  13. A 5-0 Ohio State team is a playoff caliber team. They have the win over Indiana which is nice but if they only play 5 games that may hurt them when it comes to playoff discussion. If they don't play in the Big Ten championship does the conference get two teams in? Or does Ohio State go over whoever wins the championship game? All this probably is moot as I expect the conference to bend their rules and let the Buckeyes play anyway but it's interesting to think about. Yes, that would be a real head-scratcher deciding between Ohio State and Indiana or Northwestern. ETA: Ohio State will play another game on the 19th regardless of whether they're declared eligible for the Big Ten title game. The difference between Northwestern and Iowa is negligible.
  14. I was pointing this out earlier in this thread (I think), there are a ton of bad teams this year. Granted, there are more games to settle things out, chances are the Bears do better then most There is only 3 teams I see us having no shot to pass (JAX, NYJ, CIN). All the other teams are 3-8, 4-8 or tied at 5-7. A lot of these teams have games against each other too, and the Bears themselves have an opportunity to leap over Houston themselves. Presuming no ties, I think the worst the Bears could do (not officially just a guess based on the schedules) is pick 9th if they finish 5-11. I don't think the Bears will finish 5-11 though, they will win at least 1 more which sucks. Like I said earlier, most mock drafts have the top 4 QBs going in the top 10. I actually really like all 4 of them so I really want to be in position for one. Think big, mathematically, they can still get the #2 pick.
  15. They inexplicably started 5-1.
  16. Lol, Pat Fitzgerald
  17. from 2016 forward, some guys didn't develop into what we thought (mainly schwarber), some had some injuries, heyward turned out as badly as it could, quintana wasn't what we expected and darvish had a wasted year and a half. lester got old. zobrist got old and retired. few other things went wrong too, but i'd say blunted/early aging curves for the young guys is far from the top of the list. maybe heyward qualifies, if you want to call it that? other than 2020, KB has been mostly great while missing time from time to time, Rizzo has pretty much been Rizzo, Javy took a massive leap forward (again, aside from 2020), and contreras has only gotten better. russell did go from a thing to nothing - there were obviously some unusual horsefeathers circumstances (him being a complete piece of garbage) that probably were involved with him falling off the map, but that was sort of offset by javy going full superstar. we'll see if 2020 was a blip or not for him. mostly i think it was fowler going, zobrist getting older and going and the pitchers getting old/mediocre. There were also no waves of new prospects replacing those that got old or bad. The jury is still out obviously but the best homegrown pitcher in the 9 years has been Duane Underwood?
  18. If not for him being exposed, you know these stupid fucks would've thrown money at him.
  19. What the horsefeathering horsefeathers
  20. And now Le Batard is gone at the end of the year.
  21. This doesn't make sense. At least one of ND or Clemson will make the playoff(barring something screwy like each team losing their remaining reg season games). I also can't imagine you'd rather face Clemson with Lawrence than Notre Dame in a playoff. Not even thinking about potential opponents. Making the playoff would be new ground for A&M so that's where my mind is at the moment. No matter who you play it's going to be a tough opponent. But Clemson beating Notre Dame is the only possible way those teams take 2 spots in the playoffs.

  23. 41-25 had been the final score of an NFL game only once prior to this past week.
  24. its stunning, in all of professional sports, the Bears are the WORST at evaluating the most important position predicating the teams success, and they've been the worse at doing so for horsefeathering decades You'd think that they'd accidentally get it right at least once. But no, 23 years ago they traded a 1st round pick for a QB that was legitimately awful his first 4 years in the league and now today they are still making terrible decisions in the face of better options. (to be fair, the 97 draft was historically awful for QBs, I believe the best one taken was Plummer but still doesn't excuse targeting that dude with your first round pick) That '97 team was fun to look up. Mirer started 3 games(games 4-6) en route to an 0-7 start. After sitting at 1-10, tied with the Colts for worst record in the NFL, they'd close the season 3-2, chasing down the Cardinals, Chargers, and Raiders, dropping to the 5th overall pick(while losing the 4 way tiebreaker at 4-12)...which they used on Curtis Enis.
  25. Here we go
