  1. Cardinals at less than 1% chance to win the division. Even worse than I had them a couple weeks ago when I was called a biased homer.
  2. The Cardinals are 10 games behind us in the loss column. We can finish a game below 500 the rest of the way(18-19) and the Cards need to go 25-10 just to tie us. If we close at our current pace(we'll round down and say 22-15) the Cardinals need to go 29-6 just to tie. The Cardinals have as much chance at catching us as the Astros do.
  3. Baseball and softball are getting eliminated...added BMX racing.
  4. Because both teams losing is better? Cardinals winning the wild card is best. Yeah, it won't happen cause they're not very good, but a man can hope.
  5. Are George Bushes the ones with those little sticky sharp things that get stuck on you when you run through them?
  6. cough..bull***....cough... maybe they thought it said BIGGEST tools Wouldn't Fontenot be at the top?
  7. 1990's the only year with the Cubs where it looks like he should've got more wins than he did. Losing parts of his 2 best seasons thanks to the strike hurts more than that.
  8. Isn't Blanco signed through next year? Or is this his last year? he only signed a 1 year deal 2 year deal signed before '07. I brought much rage for not handing the job to Geo. Probably worked out for the best. I think the 2nd year is a mutual option. Well it's the 3rd year, but yeah Cot's has him as having some sort of option. EDIT: Checked, you were right it's mutual.
  9. I'd take Smoak over Alvarez barely, but that's me. I think those two are ahead of guys like Alonso and Posey, I'd be concerned about how raw and far away Beckham is. Hosmer is a great prospect, a surer thing than Beckham but again, a HS prospect. Inoa is only 16 years old and hasn't thrown a professional pitch yet, I'd take every single one of those guys ahead of Inoa (says the guy who has Inoa on his fantasy team). Well, that's zero help to him. All those guys are taken. It's amazing when I went and checked out who was drafted this year how little I liked those not listed here. Lawrie from Milwaukee maybe?
  10. There is a difference between doing it with young arms (Wood and Prior), and doing it with someone who has no chance of being on the team next year. It would be a much different thing if he let Parra go to 130 pitches. As has been mentioned, it's not next year that Ned should be worried about, it's CC being worn down in October because he had to throw 20 pitches up by 7 runs in the 9th inning.
  11. But Adam Dunn does get on for other people. Just because he does it via the walk doesn't make it any different than getting on via a single(with regards to getting on base for other players)
  12. Somebody give this thread a code red.
  13. Was the 2nd question, "Could you tell me nothing about Dave Ross's abilities?"
  14. They are beyond ridiculous. That said, take the numbers away and look at the record of the team. The Cubs are something like 26-28 this year when he was injured. They are a crazy 50-20 when he is in the lineup leading off. Len and Bob, if you are lurking, start the train rolling for Sori tonight on the air. Something tells me BB won't be rolling the Soriano for MVP train anytime soon.
  15. Oh. Well still Berthiaume should die in a fire.
  16. You're reading the similarity scores wrong. Those are his most similar throughout their entire careers vs. Dunn up to this point. The 2nd column is more relevant(though truthfully, similarity scores are kinda weak to begin with) Strawberry, Canseco, Reggie Jackson, Killebrew, Colavito, Brunansky, Bonds, Glaus, Jeff Burroughs
  17. Talking out of my ass here, but I'm guessing his being a Canadian product affected teams' abilities to project him.
  18. i don't know if i'd pooh-pooh atkins' status as a prospect. he's been able to cut his walk rate down a little bit while maintaining a solid k-rate. it seems like he's been a little lucky on balls in play, but he's maintained solid numbers at AA/AAA and is only 22. he could be a pretty good back of the rotation guy, i think. Yeah, Atkins has grown on me. He's the type of guy you keep expecting to bottom out with his next promotion, and he keeps proving me wrong.
  19. Yeah Neyer's definitely just talking about what will happen. He's the first real national presence(for a mainstream publication) to be SABR.
  20. Same thing teams were missing when they kept passing on Pujols and hundreds of others.
