  1. Besides being one of the best backup best shortstops in baseball? Nothing. Slick defense, cool. He sucks at everything else. God, give me strength. Have him give Ronny some while he's at it. And some brains. And an ability to get on base. Well you did just hammer Theriot for his inability to get on base in '07, since it was worse than Ronny's. You do hammer Theriot for his braindead baserunning at least once a week. Hell, you can't go a day without bringing up Theriot throwing the ball into RF from his back for no apparent reason that one game. No wait, none of this is true.
  2. Probably not Mizzou. Or the guy pulling Soriano out of the game. Z woulda been out after the 1st for hitting the gatorade cooler from half the people here.
  3. Besides being one of the best backup best shortstops in baseball? Nothing. Why do you bother? I don't know.

  6. Pinch hitting Ronny just to bunt was dumber than letting Samardzija face all of 2 hitters. If you're just gonna bunt, let Dempster go up there. Or better yet, LET GAUDIN FACE MORE THAN 2 HITTERS
  7. He didnt dog it on the play, he misplayed a ball. Did he give it max effort? Exactly. There is NO excuse for that to happen multiple times in a season. NONE. He should have been pulled if Lou had any balls. I'd rather keep his bat in the lineup in a one run game than pretend to teach him some kind of lesson. GIVE HIM A CODE RED!!
  8. Yep. Every player should be yanked after he makes an error. We're much better off with Reed Johnson taking Soriano's ABs the rest of the way. Definitely.
  9. I'm fine with Lou leaving Z in. This, however, is really really dumb.
  10. Case closed. Two guys from the NL West in their 1 game sample size didn't have a lot of Ks. Santo ftw.
  11. I don't recall reading anything about teammates thinking he was a jerk. I know reporters didn't like him because he was actually smarter than most of them. As for teammates thinking he was a nancy, well they sure showed him, a real tough guy woulda pitched without a functioning shoulder. Sandy Vagina.
  12. It's a lot easier to pick off a dumb player from 2nd than 1st.
  13. They're gonna try and teach him how to play CF next year, so they'll send him to instructs.
  14. Santo K'd an average of 97 times a season and Aramis is at 92 a season. I think that's a wash considering some of the pitcher's Santo had to face on a consistent basis. Huh?? Ya know, guys like Bob Gibson, Sandy Koufax, Tom Seaver, Don Drysdale, Jim Bunning... Aramis only has to face Jose Lima.
  15. I'm shamelessly stealing from BTF, but it was too good not to share. I'd gladly pay you Everyday for a Hamburger today.
  16. Really?? NFL Replay is horrible. The worst part about the MLB replay plan is that they're copying the NFL style of having the ump on the field review his own call.
  17. wat? Is the hatred really that strong? It's the same completely irrational thing that makes me want to not see the White Sox if we make it to the World Series. On paper, I know full well that the Cardinals and White Sox would be the best matchups in our favor we could hope for, but I still fear what happened the last time each of those clubs made the postseason. I know I'm wrong for thinking this. Well the Cardinals aren't making the playoffs even with the 2 game sweep so who cares?

  19. too soon idiotic Agreed, Santo's like part man, part machine now. I'd imagine his legs are better.
  20. It's already a 2 team race. Color me exceptionally paranoid in this regard, but I'm still worried about the Cards. Can't help myself. That said, obviously, I will be rooting for them tonight. But let's just win and not really have to worry about it. The Cardinals are the worst team of the 3 and the farthest back. There's no reason to worry about them.
  21. I seem to recall some bad scouting reports on him. I think it's partially why he was playing some OF for them.
  22. I know that Lou took some mocking for his comment about it in spring training, but I think he's right. You get a much bigger lead at 2nd, and can establish a walkign lead that you can't really do at first base. In my opinion this cancels out the difference in the distance of the throws. Additionally when you've got a right handed batter up the catcher's throw isn't as natural as even if the batter hits the deck to avoid interference, it's still an obstacle in his way.
  23. While he is still young enough to have a future, he is in his 3rd pro season. Would he have to be added to the 40-man roster after 2009 in order to avoid the rule 5? Assuming he goes to low A next year and finally has some success, he'd still probably be a good 2-3 years from being major league ready. After 2010 I believe. Even if it was '09, nobody's gonna keep Kyler Burker on their roster all year. It's not so much the fear of losing him, but rather the likelihood of starting his option clock too soon, which could ruin whatever chance he has to develop further. Well in that regard, I don't think they'd be dumb enough to roster a not so great prospect who hasn't played above High A, in which case his clock wouldn't start.
