  1. Awesome considering many of the braindeads out there argue against him for being un-clutch.
  2. It has nothing to do with "being good enough". They aren't good enough to make BCS game, they are Notre Dame enough. I'm not playing this me-versus-the-board game anymore on the BCS eligiblity rules. Good enough to be eligible. Whatever. I've backed you on this. But yeah, ND ain't goin BCS. 8-4 should do it, and in spite of the haters will be a pretty successful season after last year's nightmare.
  3. Who's a big market columnist that doesn't suck? I like Peter Gammons. 4 or 5 years ago that would've been akin to saying "I like Joe Morgan." The mass Peter Gammons hate has really died down in general over the past few years. Is it because he had a stroke or something? Nancies I never got the Gammons hate. It was based on the fact that he was Boston-centric and was wrong when predicting some trades. But he was one of the first big-time columnists to actually talk about prospects as something more than the old every prospect is a suspect manner. He also acknowledged some of the newer stats before most anybody else heard of them. Well I wouldn't understand people hating Gammons before, but now he's no different than a screaming idiot at Fenway.

The mass Peter Gammons hate has really died down in general over the past few years. Is it because he had a stroke or something? Nancies Seriously?? I see it as the other way around. Gammons is exceptionally terrible now. He used to be pretty good probably about up until the 4 years ago you reference. Once the Red Sox won in '04, Gammons became pretty awful.
  5. For the season, Delhomme. For a game or 2, Warner.

  7. Excites the few ND delusional fans who actually believe him (less than 15% I'd say) and continually inflames the ND hate from everybody else. The 85% of the remainder of ND fans are caught in the middle left wondering how he slipped down the hill so quickly. He's the worst analyst at ESPN, but he does seem to get a lot of people awfully fired up over his comments (not saying that you're doing that), so that's probably why he has a job. It's sad too-ESPN execs probably knowingly continue to sell him the lie that he's there because he provides quality analysis even though everybody knows that he just continues to embarrass himself. That's pretty much what all ESPN "analysts" are there for these days.(sans St. Kirk of course) Just say something to get the masses fired up. It's the sole purpose of Around the Horn.
  8. You wouldn't have considered the Cards eliminated at 8.5 back with 29 to go?
  9. That doesn't seem like a very good reason to hate a team. I'd imagine they are just jealous that they can't fill their own park, let alone have a crazy national following. All it takes is one opposing fan in your own ballpark rubbing in a tough loss to turn your opinion against an entire fanbase. It's not rational, but most things in sports aren't.
  10. I didn't notice this at all. That would be awesome because the Rockies just aren't very good. BPro puts them at 3.3%. I'd probably put them a little lower than that cause the Dodgers and D-Backs are pretty clearly better teams. 1% maybe.
  11. I didn't read the article, but the Cubs are hated in way more places than those 3. I've read accounts of just about every road team calling our fans obnoxious. Teams get pissed because they're going to a game in their own home park and their surrounded by the away team's fans. At minimum, Atlanta, Florida, Colorado, and Arizona fans do not like us.
  12. The Cubs haven't done that yet, but the only guys they've had worth doing it for have been pitchers, which I understand not wanting to.
  13. If Fox and Gooz are activated is anyone left for the fake DL spot? Petrick?
  14. They can't do that, can they? They can and will assuming it doesn't affect the playoffs, which it almost certainly wouldn't.
  15. the cubs lost a game to the nationals. The Twins lost 2/3 to the Mariners earlier in the month, and the first 2 to the Mariners in this series. They did sweep them in Minny in between, but thats 4-4 vs. the worst team in the AL in the span of a month, and 1-4 in Seattle. We went 3-3 vs. the Nationals. Granted we're pretty clearly better than the Twins, but the Nats are pretty clearly worse than the Mariners. True, I guess I'm just frustrated because they are the only chance to unseat the White Sox in the Central, and these are the easiest games they have during a tough month and they are blowing it. I'm beginning to accept the White Sox are going to the playoffs. It almost doesn't seem fair considering they wanted Jerry Owens to be their everyday CF with Quentin on the bench/in AAA.

  17. Soriano over 6 years is definitely better than Lee over 6 years. Athletic types age better than the plodding slugger types. Gun to my head, I take Soriano's contract. I'm with everyone else in thinking Z gets things straightened out by October, but really you can't go wrong with any of the top 3 in any order.
  18. I believe it's written into the rules that it's an auto ejection.
  19. I thought the worst example was starting Anthony Morelli over anyone.
  20. Coste wins it, going 4 for 4 after coming in on a double switch. Hopefully Kendrick threw enough in the pen that they flip flop Hamels and he.
  21. Myers took 6 pitches, Schoenweis managed to get 3 over for strikes. Myers was a pinch hitter that was hitting .045
  22. Wifebeater to pinch hit. Root for the Mets to get out of this, cause Kendrick is warming up, which would likely have Hamels start tomorrow, rather than against us on Thursday.
  23. Well, it is gonna be a pitcher batting here with the bases loaded, 0 outs.
  24. That happened like 2 months ago.
  25. Wish it was Daryle Ward coming up instead. He isn't a lollygagger.
