  1. Stewart/Cassel
  2. I think Alfonso Soriano wrote that one.
  3. Worse than Ryan Theriot?
  4. I bet it'd be close enough to not make it worth them to fight him in arbitration.
  5. I know I know, I'm definitely overreacting to the photos. I just can't get over the fact that the players typically care about the results less than we do. Plus pretty much everything Soriano has done since the regular season ended has pissed me off. I mean why should he care, he makes $18 million a year, cheats on his wife whenever he wants, can pretty much buy whatever he wants, and has the next 4 months off basically (obviously he'll be working out and stuff). Have you honestly not smiled since Saturday? Of course I have. But not to anything Cubs related. Just because Soriano is a Cub doesn't mean he's smiling to anything Cub related.

  8. Ted Lilly punched out his manager, ran over another teams catcher injuring him, and threw his glove down in a rage after giving up a homer to Chris Young in the playoffs last year. Yet when announcers talk about him they never give us that he can't control his emotions crap that they always spew about Z. While your racism contention is absurd on its own, bringing up the Molina thing doesn't even make sense. I thought it was a pretty crazy thing to do that could have hurt him when we were getting ready for the playoffs. Why risk getting hurt? Why play him at all? No starters from August onward. When are you allowed to run into the catcher (A real part of the game), April? May? If Z ran over a catcher, you could be damn sure it'd be brought up as a mark against him being partially insane. Ted Lilly cares, Carlos Zambrano is insane.
  9. I'd agree that Dunn can get overrated in certain circles because they look only at his slash #s and ignore his horrible secondary skills of baserunning and defense.
  10. The title of this thread doesn't agree with this post. This post basically states Stone's opinion that Lee is expendable, etc. while the title suggests that Stone has information that Lee will be traded. Stone said he believes that Lee will be traded but just backed it up with what the op said. Of course he also talked about how he would be leery of picking up Harden's option because he can't pitch every 5 days (said something like every 9th day) and that kills your rotation. Said of course he's almost unhittable when healthy but rarely is and walks too many batters. He would just pick up the option to use him in a trade. Impossible, Steve Stone told me Harden's option wasn't being picked up.
  11. Scouting report provided by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
  12. Theriot and Fonenot will each have their contracts renewed at somewhere from 400-500K. The Cubs control their rights for quite some time. They can trade them at any time as they are considered their property even without an official contract signed.
  13. My 2007 Central champs hat is my go to Cubs hat.
  14. Who sees him that way though? I feel like he's just sort of assumed to be the "leader" because he's been around for a long time and comes across as calm cool and collected, plus he was really good one year. DeRosa and Theriot are the most quoted. Before long Soto is going to be the leader. But what exactly does a team leader lead? Lee has shied away from any outward leadership role, I doubt this team would suffer from a lack of his presence. It won't happen because Lee won't want to go to any team that wants him. Unless the Mariners pony up with an extension.
  15. Eh, I mean he has a point. The durability is an obvious concern. If he's worreid about Harden being hurt all season that's fine. If he's worried about having to take extra care of a guy and skip him every now and then to keep him healthy then he's nuts.
  16. For an offensive 2B, a .234/.342/.398 line with a 93 OPS+ isn't exactly enticing. He hasn't lived up to his hype yet. Weeks is going 30-30 next year... and the year after... and after... and after... until he dies. He'll be going 30-30 when he's 83 and playing Bingo. He'll be doing it for the NL Central Champion Reds.
  17. Anyone able to pull out how many of Lee's DPs came with Theriot on first? Scanning game logs is the only guess I'd have for that.
  18. Give them a code red.
  19. Certainly, the comment is open to interpretation but it sounds like they are open to adding some talent (we're not talking Tex/CC money). Somebody get a chat set up with Andy, so we can find out the truth.
  20. If Ryan Theriot had Ryan Theriot batting in front of him all season he'd have grounded into more DPs than Derrek Lee. He'd also be breaking a few fundamental rules of baseball.
  21. Eh that's not true. Much of winning a playoff series comes down to luck, getting hot, however you want to define it. But a true talent 110 win team is more likely to "get lucky" than a 97 win team. It's a marginal upgrade, but it is an upgrade.
  22. Aramis posted the highest OBP of his career this season. He's not on his way out This may have been his best season since '04
  23. Maybe if we get the payroll up high enough, nobody cheap would dare touch the team.
