  1. you cant blame ramirez for most anything, Pierre really blown the big chances in this one you have to be kidding. yes pierre has sucked tonight, but ramirez is paid $11 million. .198 is god awful.
  2. [expletive] RAMIREZ! WORSE CLEAN-UP MAN IN BASEBALL!
  3. You do realize these guys are only 5.76% of the way through their contracts? But can they hit lefties? Righties? a ball out of the infield? Does anyone remember Hawkins? Don't tell me anybody here actually thought that guy was good. We needed to fix the bullpen. The Cubs would have single digit wins if Hawkins and Remlinger were in place of Howry and Eyre. if hawkins was still here, the padres would have won in the 8th and there would be complaining about how hendry hasn't fixed the pen. man can't win.
  4. Nearly half the budget being out is reason to celebrate? who's celebrating? i just don't take a glass half empty approach.
  5. I was in favor of those. I just thought we'd sign a RF, a CF, and maybe a SS too. like who? Yeah...because no team managed to add a decent bat or two this winter...or the winter before...or the winter before that... ton of rf's available.... i know... i'm sure the trib was going to pay giles more than aram or lee.
  6. they're not really worth since the offense sucks so bad. so negative What's to be positive about? Chris Speier is the loneliest man in baseball. Nearly half the budget is out (lee, wood, prior and aram) and they're over .500.
  7. You do realize these guys are only 5.76% of the way through their contracts? i'll save this one for the daily pierre/jones griping.

  10. anyone still mad about the eyre and howry signings?
  11. dear aram, please do something sometime soon.
  12. nothing wrong w/ discussing ex-cubs. there's already been tons on discussion on corey anyway. viewtopic.php?t=30664
  13. ?? lee, walker, ramirez, murton, dempster and barrett were bought high?
  14. Pie or Coats should be brought up anyways, just to replace slappy Pierre. We still would need a big bat. Wait, so you want the team to score even fewer runs than it already does? It's a wonderful idea to replace the guy leading the team in Runs scored. Just because Pierre is leading the team in runs scored doesn't mean he's been good. He's been pretty bad. He's hitting in the .270's with a .313 OBP. Not good from the leadoff spot. Pie or Coats could outproduce Pierre any day of the week. just replace the guy who has underperformed the most, ramirez. the lack of patience here is entertaining.
  15. kid's had 11 major league appearances now and he's 26 and hasn't looked good. there's reason for concern. his era is over 10 is five starts now.
  16. another difference...Pierre's play was dumb, but he was safe. he was only picked off because the umpire apparently had an overwhelming urge to raise his right arm. The point is Corey is no longer a Cub. He's no longer our problem. Pierre is our problem. Interestingly enough, Corey is hitting .295 and scoring runs at a pretty healthy clip. Yet, it's when he does something wrong people like to start threads about him. Corey's strike out rate is also only 1 per 6 plate appearances. But, I'm not going to start a thread about how well he's making contact. Just as I would expect that people wouldn't start a thread about him each time he does something that proves the anti Corey crowds theories. if corey was with the cubs he'd be hitting .095. dude has something wrong in his head. when he gets booed a few times in baltimore, that average will drop. looks like another anti-corey crowd vs. love every cub prospect crowd battle. ;)
  17. maddux was 21 in his first full season. hill's 26. big difference.
  18. the good - pierre was on base 4 out of 5 times. his obp's over .300, i think. also, rusch pitched 2 scoreless mop-up innings. the bad - rich hill & 21 LOB's. there's been lots of griping about lack of walks, but what this team really needs is another power hitter. there's only 2 sufficient power hitters on the team.
  19. give em a week and they might be last. 21 LOB's tonight.
  20. i'll call you when lee's back. ok. :) with lee, the lineup's top 6 in the NL. get abreu at the deadline and it's one of the best.
  21. I would say players who have bad seasons, in relation to expectations, can be blamed. But if guys play to expectations, it's the GM and managers fault when they fail. And if a good player has a bad month, I'll give him some slack. Also, when players routinely make outs swinging at garbage, I still blame them, somewhat, for not fixing that problem. If a player routinely grounds into DPs with the same pathetic slap it to 2nd swing, I blame him. But when I complain about sucky players for sucking, it's implied that I blame their presence on the roster or in the lineup or on the mound for the troubles. Most of my hostility is directed at management for poor planning. I just blame everyone. It's much easier that way. .....and you save alot of money on steno pads and pencils :P Even tho he wrote it as a joke, but Soul has the correct notion. Don't blame one or two players., blame the WHOLE FRIGGIN' TEAM. It took the majority of the team--excluding a few players who have played very well---to be this crappy, naturally this team should get the blame., not just one or two. i can't blame lee, walker, cedeno, murton, barrett, maddux, marshall, guzman, howry, eyre, dempster, novoa, williamson or jones. 14-12 isn't crappy either.
