  1. jones has a very respectable .861 ops versus righties. he shouldn't be in there against lefties. people need to get off his butt.
  2. just watch. this will be the day the offense come out of hibernation, but the cubs lose 7-6.
  3. Guzman is hitting 95 with the fast ball. why aren't you at the game?? I'd be there, but i have family visiting. Petco banned smoking anywhere in the stadium grounds. Screw them and the stadium they play their games in. I'm also not happy with the Cubs team in general. lol. taking a stand! :) yeah, i might have a meltdown if i see the cubs in person. :)
  4. we can only hope but look at fridays game, no runs = no win. Maddux can throw a no hitter and we would lose it still cmon they're scoring a run every other day. don't score today and they're due tomorrow

  6. at least maddux is going tomorrow & can stop the 6 game skid. it goes to 8, if maddux doesn't stop it. bonds will hit 714 or 715 off hill.
  7. aaaahhh guzman might get lit up today. why is jones batting 4th one night & 7th another? is baker hitting the bottle on the road?
  8. It's not wise to make any big moves until the deadline. If they're out of it, deal off Wood before they lose him in free agency. Same goes for Walker & Pierre. Deal off Ramirez cause he could bring back 2-3 young players. But back to reality, I highly doubt they'll out of it. Marshall & Maddux have been great, and I think the pitching will keep them in it. This is just a stretch of really bad hitting. The horrible hitting won't continue.
  9. this has mega thread potential. i can't start rooting against the cubs this early on. i'll bet many are already rooting against them, so baker, jones & pierre, etc. are gone.
  10. In almost every other organization, heads would be rolling. imagine if this were the yankees there is a reason htey have 26 rings and we dont have one in 100 years Yes, 200 million reasons. Yes, I'm sure they have always had a payroll of 200mil. when didn't their payroll not dwarf the rest of the league??
  11. Not that it would have mattered because we wouldn't score anyways, but seriously, why not let Dempster pitch to stay sharp and increase your chances of prolonging the game? baker was waiting until the 12th inning
  12. cubs weren't going to score them regardless. they weren't going to string 3 hits in a row or get an extra base hit. this team's way too weak.

  14. should have kept nomar and let ronnie play Triple A ;)
  15. i didn't say bring him up now. pierre's track record shows he can do much better, but if he's still struggling by july, they gotta start thinking about bringing up pie.
  16. He's not ready. I'd rather see him work on his plate discipline, power and baserunning at AAA than come up with holes in his game and struggle. i'd like to see him up by august. gotta have him ready for next year. cedeno looks like a sufficient top of the order guy, so pierre's not needed as much.
  17. hell with that! get JONES out of that lineup. not pierre. they just need a platoon partner for jones. be fair now.
  18. start the pie countdown cedeno walker lee aram jones murton pie barret
  19. Do you have numbers for that? BP did a study that showed pretty conclusively that the only good times to sac bunt when playing for one run are 1) when there are no outs and a runner on second and 2) when the pitcher (or someone who hits just as poorly as a pitcher - Neifi Perez for example) is batting. does the bp "study" conclude a that runner usually scores from 1st on a single?
  20. yep, don't want to set up a guy w/ a .934 ops vs. righties. i
  21. extra base hit please. screw the walks and singles. 1 run wins this.
