  1. Well, I'd rather have Giles in rf next yr, but that sounds alright. Who would leadoff though?? Pie?? Cedeno??
  2. I'm getting sick of this Cub defense blowing games. Yeah, the offense could be better, but the Cubs are beating themselves w/ their subpar d. How should they address this in the offseason?? They have one good all around player, Lee. Walker's average to below avg. on d. Nomar and ARam are pretty awful. Lawton doesn't look too hot in lf. Patterson's good in cf, but can't hit. Burnitz probably won't be back, and Barrett's not much of a defender, but at least he can hit. What good defender or all around player should Hendry try to acquire. Cub pitchers cannot like pitching w/ this defense behind them.
  3. Rusch pitched poorly on Saturday?? Did you watch the game and see the defense behind Rusch?? If Rusch doesn't keep his composure, the game could have been 12-0 by the 5th.
  4. So who plays cf then?? The Cub defense is pretty bad. At least CPatt can defend.
  5. Just another game where the defense is brutal.
  6. I'd like to see them move Holla and keep Murton up.. However, nothing wrong w/ getting Murton 4 ABs per day @ Iowa for a few weeks. But keep piling on Dusty, the man never hit a home run in his life.
  7. Dusty played a 22 year old!!! What!
  8. Yeah Dusty would have ruined Sandberg. Dusty's the same guy who gave Z a shot back he wasn't all that spectacular. Ryno's right on the money w/ his response. But what does he know. :)
  9. cruz was fantastic last season out of atlanta's pen. and he was flat out dominating at AAA this month. dubois is in his first big league season, and he hasn't really been given consistent playing time. and even with the inconsisten playing time + a trade, he's slugging .453, which isn't awful. feliz, luis gonzalez, and overbay slug at about that clip. hill's a decent utility guy...career .345ish obp. that's barrett, walker, winn, milton bradley range. choi's got a near .800 OPS. better than piazza, castillo, feliz, lawton, wilkerson. so while none of those guys are stars, they've all had some success...it's not like they're out of baseball or anything. and they're all still young...and most importantly, for the teams that have them, cheap. Maybe I was right about Cruz after all! :D Choi had a 3 game stretch where he hit a bunch of home runs and has done little since. LA could really use some hitting, and the guy can't even start consistently. Sure, sure blame it on Tracy though. did you not read the end of my post? So they're getting "shots" but Murton and Hill aren't?? They're playing sporadically just like the Murton and the rest. People would still be beating the "I Hate Dusty" drum if Choi was still in Chicago.
  10. Obviously disagreeing w/ you is worse.
  11. You're obsessed w/ Baker. Maybe the Cubs farm system just suks.

  13. Perhaps the Cubs just don't draft or scout well?? People were griping about Choi, Hill, DuBois, and Cruz never getting shots and where are they now? I liked Cruz, but admit that I was way off. Oh well.
  14. Considering he'd be pitching 10-15 innings in September, and roughly 30 next April, I'd lean towards him missing this September. Why not give the beloved Mitre, Hill and Welly shots next April when it's still really early?? I lean towards playing to win, and not giving up on a season.
  15. You don't think Maddux has taught Kerry, Prior and Z a thing or two?? Also, I don't notice any teams beating down the Cubs door for Mitre.
  16. I'd rather have Kerry miss next April, than this September. I see no reason to give up on this season. Some of you guys should consider moving to France. :)
  17. Prior missed some games and isn't the dominant pitcher he used to be. Z has just had some tough luck. Maddux is about where he should be.
  18. To win 90, one of these wildcard teams needs to play 10 over .500 baseball the rest of the way. Anyone see Houston, Philly, NY, Florida or Washington doing that?? Btw big win for Washington in the 2nd game. The Cubs w/ Nomah, Lawton, and Kerry out of the pen are a different team than the one playing in June and July.
  19. Leave Dempster as the closer. Bring Kerry in whenever the heart of the order is due up.
  20. Nomar is day-to-day. He says he'll be ready to play Friday after the off day. Good deal. I was expecting the worse.
  21. What's Nomar's status?? Is he done for the year?? Jmo but put the money into the outfield and pitching. Put Cedeno @ SS and Walker @ 2b. IF Nomar's done for the year, I doubt even the best performance enhancers can get him healthy again.
  22. I think we will win tomorrow. I was worried about tonight but Maddux really looked good. I expect Carlos to dominate tomorrow and they'll get three or four runs off Roy. Ryan in the 9th still scares the hell out of me even though the save record is good. I'll also pull for Philadelphia to take 2 of the next 3. I'm rooting for Washington to sweep. Philly scares me more than Washington. Washington hasn't been good since the All Star break. They played way over their heads early in the year. Hopefully, they play over their head's tomorrow and sweep the doubleheader.
