  1. If he can't make it here, then he's a commodity that can be sent to the teams that can use him. Why do you want Welly cut from the organization, yet clamor for Rueter to be signed? What can the Cubs get for him?? Seriously? Could catch lightning in a bottle w/ Reuter. At least he's had success in the majors, and can't be much worse than Hill, Mitre or Welly. Wait, you want Reuter over Hill, Mitre or Welly? Reuter had success when he could get that FB up over 80 mph. I'd rather lose 8 - 4 than 15 -4.
  2. Release Wellemeyer. No loss @ all. Majorly disagree. raisin, what do you see in Welle? He has the pitches to be a bottom of the order starter - he posted an ERA of 3 at AAA in 11 starts this year. He could also be a good set-up man. The Cubs need to give him a proper role and not dust him off once every week in blow outs. I dont mean to pick a bone with you, but I dont see it. lower to mid 90's fastball, ok slider, changup...and limited success at AAA. it seems like every time he gets called up his head implodes and he cant find the strikezone. do you think he needs to start? He needs regular playing time to succeed. He doesn't get it in the big leagues (except for about two weeks in May) and that's why I think he struggles more with his control in the big leagues. He gets proper playing time in the minors and does well. If only Choi could play ever day...... And the song plays on.... It's Dusty fault. doo dooo. Dusty's fault. dooo dooo. It rained today and was Dusty's fault. doo doooo :D
  3. It doesn't matter. Wuertz is shaky but Welly should not be here (period). If you can't keep your ERA under 4 in the minors you don't belong in the MLs. I was shocked when I saw that Koronka was sent down so quickly in favor of Wellemeyer. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Koronka is the answr. Actually, I'm inclinded to think that Hill out of the pen is better than as a starter because of his limited pitches. Bring him back. Welly has got to go! Yep, bring Hill out of the pen. Just don't let him go beyond an inning. Might get a 7 spot tagged on him. :( At least it wasn't 9-2 after 2 innings. lol...still ragging on hill even after your boy glendon got shellacked. nice.

Throw the towel in. No, a bottom of the order starter for the Cubs. I'd rather him start than Jerome Williams. I don't see why his age is so important. And cutting him would be a waste, trade him if you want. If the guy can't get it going by now, doubtful he ever will.

  7. Sure seems like Walker and ARam hit into lots of double plays.

  9. Reuter and someone from Double A. Jermain Van Buren!! DUH!! Is he the next phenom?? If so, bring him up. I don't want another 26-28 yr. old up.
  10. He needs some time off. He's really out of it.
  11. These guys want to pad their stats against Wandy. Sheeesh. Send Burnitz to Iowa along w/ Welly.
  12. Well compared to Welly, Wuertz did ok. Someone buy Welly the first ticket out of Houston. Sign Reuter and quit bringing up guys who should stay in Iowa their entire careers.
  13. Watch the Cubs score 8 or 9 runs tonight. Just an awful, awful outing for Welly. Just release him. Who cares if he can get outs @ Iowa.
  14. Too bad they had to use Wood yesterday. Would have been nice to see him shut down Houston for a couple innings tonight.
  15. Wellemeyer in a Cubs uni is same as Farnsworth was in a Cubs uni... small flashes of brilliance (and big heat), but more often than not, can't throw strikes+gives up lots of hits. I'm not a Farns fan, but he was A LOT better.
  16. Yep the pitching is not good. Too many people obsess over the lack of walks though, and fail to realize that pitching and defense have lost lots of games this year.
  17. I'd venture to say that the pitching has been worse than the offense. 4 runs through 5 innings is pretty good. Giving up 8 runs through 4+ is not good. I was just referrring to the offense. No doubt the pitching is brutal tonight. The Cubs don't have a #4 or #5 pitcher and the #2 and #3 aren't all that good either.
  18. People need to quit getting fired up about 26 year olds who get out @ Iowa. If Welly keeps this up, he should never see the majors again. Dude's going on 27 & still suks. Sorry.
  19. If my math's right, the Cubs have had 11 men on in 5 innings. The Cubs need some clutch hits. ARam and Burnitz are hurting the team tonight.
  20. First sniff of a righty and Bakere needs to jump all over the chance to put Lawton in for Burnitz. He wiould prolly come in for Murton knowing Dusty. Yep, Murton needs to hit another homer in order to stay in vs. a righty.
  21. NICE! Big inning here w/ 3, 4, 5 up. Please pinch hit for Burnitz if he comes up w/ the bases loaded.
  22. Then it will be time to pile on the guys who wanted Welly to start tonight.
