  1. he reminds me of josh homme i like him! though i was upset his double came because of a 1st pitch swing. bad!
  2. Are you being serious?...I dont remember his first game, so I cant tell. I'm serious. My memory could be wrong, but I remember watching his first game on WGN. His first AB, I remember predicting a homerun from him. The pitch comes, and he hits a screaming line drive that at 1st looked like it would be a homerun. But it ended up being a screaming flyout to the warning track. I thought that was a sign of good things to come...well, it wasn't. Of course, my memory could be horrible and that isn't what happened at all.
  3. you could just stop reading baker quote threads Brilliant come back. agreed people shouldn't bother analyzing what the leader of the team says they should just not pay attention to anything the leader of the team says publicly
  4. I don't see how cubs dane's skill with language has any bearing on the content of his post. Please keep your comments directed to the post, and not the poster. Thanks. he repeated himself. the comment was not an insult, it was me pointing out that i understand that he's communicating in a language that is not native to him. perhaps you should look at that before you try to scold me for something that i didn't even do. yeah we're all crazy for thinking your posts towards cubs dane were condescending and insulting
  5. I remember thinking Augie Ojeda was going to be a great Cub for a long time after his 1st game.
  6. Actually, since we face another lefty tomorrow, I'm betting Hollandsworth plays 1st, and Murton stays in left. Actually, I'm betting we don't have a game tomorrow.
  7. DID YOU REALLY READ IT THAT FA....oh nevermind.
  8. Since Willis is pitching, I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict this lineup. 1. Hairston - CF 2. Neifi - 2B 3. Aramis - 3B 4. Burnitz - RF 5. Murton - LF 6. Hollandsworth - 1B 7. Barrett - C 8. Cedeno - SS Something tells me Murton is starting his 1st game as a Cub today.
  9. the cubs would be so awesome if he was our centerfielder
  10. The answer to the 2nd part of the question is useless if the answer to the 1st question doesn't fit, but here goes. 1- How long have you been announcing for the Chiefs? 2- Were you the announcer when Pujols was a Chief? And if yes, what were your impressions of him at that time? Did you expect him to become the game's best hitter?
  11. lol no one would claim him he strikes out all the time
  12. Haha 11 people are viewing this thread. 11 of us still care.
  13. my prediction on today's travesty of a lineup: 1. Neifi - SS 2. Walker - 2B 3. Ramirez - 3B 4. Burnitz - RF 5. Hollandsworth - 1B 6. Barrett - C 7. Macias - LF 8. Patterson - CF
  14. I'd love to sign Damon to a 1 or 2 year deal. But he's going to want 4 years. No thanks.
  15. that's fine, she's not really all that hot.
  16. Haha, I loved that part, and loved that piece. Mainly, I missed a lot of it though because of my man-crush on Andre Dawson. Dude was my all-time favorite player. He was my friggin idol as a kid. But yeah, far too early to talk about the triple crown. It's like talking about DiMaggio every time someone reaches a 20-game hit streak. I loved Dawson as a kid too. It's amazing though. Looking at his stats, if he were a Cub now putting up those same numbers I'd probably hate him, since his OBP is usually horrid. But when I was 10 I didn't even notice things like that. All I knew is that he hit homeruns, and had a cannon for an arm.
  17. Who said Grieve should replace Macias? I believe the initial point was that Grieve would be a better PINCH HITTER than Macias. If you care to argue that fact, I suggest you watch Macias once in a while...Macias helps with his "versatility"...but Grieve's got a much better bat than does Macias, end of discussion. Yeah, he has a nice bat, but does he have good body language? i saw him in aaa once he struck out and then he started smiling i was like "oml he doesn't even care no wonder no team is trying to trade for you, you bum"
  18. if you ignore all of grieve's other batting stats and only focus on batting average (seriously have you addressed his OBP or SLG or homers?), then yeah, you might think he's worthless. I can do the same! Based on Aramis's lack of stolen bases, Aramis sucks offensively.
  19. Anyone know the TV situation yet with tomorrow's games?
  20. When is Steve Stone on the air?
  21. Why are we looking at Baez when we've already found an effective closer? Or would this relegate Dempster to setup man/Baez to setup man? Dempster back in the rotation? I think we found a role Dempster is comfortable with, it'd be a shame for the Cubs to screw it up. Especially since TB always asks for a lot when they deal, it seems really pointless to me to try to get Baez.
  22. That's what I was gonna say. The writer is describing Carlos Zambrano to a tee. Young powerful pitcher who adds life to the clubhouse... I think I'd do Zambrano for Abreu straight up. Statistically speaking, I'd probably do it. Unfortunatley, I <3 Z. If it was up to me, my attatchment to the awesomeness Z brings to the table would keep me from doing the deal. you'd grow to love abreu and his career .306/.413/.519 line
  23. First of all, E-ramis is lame. Just like Sam-"ME" and "K"orey, and every other negative nickname that bitter Cubs fans come up with. But if you had to do this with Aramis, then Error-mis is a lot funnier and works a lot better than E-ramis.
