what lineup spot is it important to have a good vorp?
  2. rocket

    SORRY

"Your people"? wtf? Anyone who said Neifi is better than Jeter is a moron. But "your people" have said equally moronic things throughout the years. Maybe I should lump you in with those people since you do the same to "us people".

i don't need my eyes to tell me which player is good when i can just look at the numbers. any awful player can look good on a certain day. trusting only your eyes is a bad idea.

well i think announcer's opinions are sometimes the most overrated thing in sports today. (which is why firejoemorgan.blogspot.com is so great)
  6. that was really nice of detroit to give us anything at all for neifi
  7. basically, yes. That's nonsense. so one game against a terrible offense negates about 6 years of games in the minors and college with okay-at-best stats?
  8. Talent. When is Hill going to start showing it? *ducks* probably here or here
  9. we should trade barrett for cesar izturis
  10. it'd make for some awesome signs at wrigley
  11. i probably shouldn't have made this thread sorry reds fans
  12. i know. you can actually make a case for jeter for mvp without throwing the word intangibles in there this year. http://www.hardballtimes.com/thtstats/main/?view=winshares He's tied for the lead in the AL in total win shares
  13. I'm just not drinking the Cubs brass' kool-aid on Cedeno. I think a majority of the hype came from the failed Furcal acquisition, so hey, we have a great Cedeno already so who cares if we failed again at an impact FA signing. i'm not drinking the cubs brass' kool-aid that izturis is this amazing defender who's so great if off sets his horrible offensive production.
  14. jeter has the rings so i'm sure it's arod's fault
  15. I hope you were being sarcastic. Cause I seriously doubt that Hendry would had recieved either Jay Bruce/Homer Bailey for Eyre or Howry or anybody in the org (not name Lee or Ramirez). I was exaggerating, but I still believe Hendry should have got involved if the Reds are giving up solid players for bullpen help.
  16. jesus. the cubs should have tried to get jay bruce or homer bailey for eyre, howry, whoever if this guy is this desperate for bullpen help.
  17. we all hate the cardinals, so even though the reds are a divisional rival, how about bringing them some good karma or whtaever it is you believe in and help them overtake the cards for the central division crown. go reds. go dunn! do it for merckules
  18. bill simmons is an idiot. scott hatteberg is hitting .322/.415/.490 while making 750 grand. how is he "disproving" moneyball? chad bradford has a 3.12 era with a 1.11 whip. he was never portrayed as anything but a good relief pitcher who is overlooked. i don't see how he's "disproving" moneyball. jeremy brown is a prospect, always was a prospect. most prospects don't turn out very well. big deal.
  19. number of winning seasons since mercker left : 0 the stats don't lie
  20. hahahaha, way to get swept, losers
  21. I definately didn't like it when he said "horses" either but didn't mind the injury part too much. Not great, but not horrible. well, len isn't wrong for pointing out that it isn't really fair to expect the cubs to do amazing when lee, wood, and prior all go down with injuries. the big problem is that, assuming those 3 are healthy, the cubs still aren't that good, and still have a horrible organizational philosophy when it comes to acquiring new players.
  22. Not true. He was good in 2002. Amazing in 2003. Good in 2004. And good in 2005.
  23. or, how many more bad outings before we really start to fear that this is the new real mark prior, and the 2002-2003 mark prior shall never return? i love the guy to death, but i'm getting scared. :(
  24. Rocket, you know as well as I do that this management team doesn't give a rat crap about what anyone thinks outside their inner circle of scouts and coaches. God, being a Cubs fan absolutely sucks. I know, but I'm not asking him to point out an opinion. Just print Dusty's quote about Hanley's AAA numbers then Bruce simply respond with the facts. Then the reader can see what a moron Dusty is without Bruce having to say anything.
