  1. I don't know, but that's what trades are for. It shouldn't be hard to find a lead-off guy with a .330 OBP who is cheaper than Pierre. If Pierre had more of a recent history of a .350+ OBP, I'd be on board with re-signing him. Leadoff hitters are hard to find. You cant just go out and make a trade for one. Not many teams will deal their leadoff hitter. Matt Murton would be just fine as a leadoff hitter if Pierre didn't come back.
  2. i'm with you good sir (or ma'am)
  3. That should be expected since, you know, he isn't a 3rd baseman.
  4. Izturis will make about $4.5m next season and $5.5m in 2008. So we actually did lose money to spend. About...$4.5m worth. That adds up. Rusch + Neifi + Izturis is about $10m in waste. If we just had Izturis, it would be one thing. Together, the three of them take up more than 10% of our payroll. That's ridiculous. Why are fans so concerned about payroll? I'm pretty sure you're not the one cutting the checks and the guys who are seemed comfortable with the move so what's the problem? It's not like we're the Marlins or the Rays and have fire sales every 3 years. Management has proven they'll pay for talent. I highly doubt these contracts will stop us from going after a Soriano or a Lee next year. They'll pay for talent? Like who?
  5. I don't get the link you're making between the 2 at all.
  6. I dunno. He's probably just not good enough to be a major leaguer, even though I love him. Edit: Is that .718 his slugging, or his OPS? It can't be his slugging.
  7. "take the prospects next time"
  8. I hate the Twins and I hope they lose
  9. The day game excuse is lame. Go to bed earlier.
  10. I doubt Soriano wants to be a Cub.
  11. for the last 2 months of the season he'll go 337/370/475 and cubs fans and hendry will think it's the greatest trade ever. too bad those 2 months happened though, because in 2007 he'll go 234/266/312 but won't be benched because those 2 months were the 'real' izturis. cesar will have a hot 2 months that will cost the cubs dearly for the next 2 seasons at least.
  12. didn't hendry actually say he could have had a couple of high-level prospects for maddux, but chose izturis instead? if hendry actually did say that, then people have every right to criticize what he got in return.
  13. I'll miss you and I love you still, Todd Walker. Greg Maddux....meh.
  14. When a team has made the postseason a number of years in a row (re: Braves, Yankees), I tend to favor that team to make the playoffs again until they prove me wrong. But what if said team sucks this year?
  15. what's with the braves love here?
  16. i kinda like zeppelin but hate u2
  17. AL East - Red Sox AL Central - White Sox AL West - A's Wild Card - Tigers NL East - Mets NL Central - Cards NL West - Arizona Wild Card - Reds ALCS - A's vs. Red Sox (A's win) NLCS - Reds vs. Mets (Reds win) World Series Champs - Cincinnati Reds
  18. hopefully he suffers from mark prioritis and goes 18-6 with 245 K, 50 BB, 2.43 ERA in 211.1 IP next season
  19. i really really don't "get" pink floyd's appeal. but i don't get gnr's appeal either. oh well. can't wait to vote against either of these bands next round.
  20. eckstein would have sprinted the whole way than dive headfirst into home
  21. harold was just as big of a moron as kruk and phillips.
  22. i knew you'd admit it wasn't moises's fault
