  1. Maybe Bruce Miles will read this and call Dusty out in the Daily Herald. That would be fun.
  2. i love len's mancrush on dunn
  3. Just what the Royals need. How did Jay Bruce look for Dayton? 2-4 with a double and a homerun and 4 RBI off the top of my head. I was tooling around with my digital camera and got video of his RBI double with the bases loaded: I'm no Scorcese, but in case you wanted to see Jay Bruce in action, there you go
  4. I went to the Dayton Dragons vs. Burlington Bees game today, and when I looked at my program, I was astounded at what I saw. Their offense is just awful. I mean, really really bad. Some fun facts: The guy on the team with the highest BA has a .272 BA. (Jose Duarte) The guy on the team with the highest SLG has a .408 SLG. (Miguel Vega) The guy on the team with the highest OPS has a .746 OPS. (Mario Lisson) To be fair, the guy with the highest OBP has a .401 OBP, but his line (.253/.401/.323 in 297 ABs) isn't exactly good either. (Joshua Johnson This amazed me. Is this the worst offense assembled in all of professional baseball? By the way, Bees somehow score 10 runs and win 10-6.
  5. Night games was a brilliant idea and it'd be pretty foolish if the Cubs still refused to put in lights
  6. Maybe deal for Jason Bay? if the pirates dealt bay for guzman and marmol the franchise should be destroyed
  7. You won both rounds of Survival Football, but I don't recall whether you won this as well. oh. i don't think i did pick 'em last year.
  8. the whole right field vs. left field thing is almost as dumb as the wave.
  9. didn't i win this last year?
  10. Maybe in those days pitchers had to throw that much, and the medical technology wasn't even close to what it is today, so the ones that got hurt were done before they barely started. Now, it isn't really entirely necessary to pitch that much, so the ones that got "weeded" out before are still around.
  11. I GOT AN IDEA LET'S KEEP EXTENDING THIS UNTIL PINK FLOYD WINS queen wins people, get over it.
  12. Penny could say that he started the all-star game this year, so he is a "superstar" too. To me, it's common courtesy to take whatever number is given to you, especially if you're just a 2 month rental.
  13. Penny shouldn't have to give up his number. That's ridiculous. He was there first.
  14. Why would we want to be jerks to the Red Sox? I can think of alot of teams I wouldn't mind screwing, but Boston isn't one of them. Especially not if we're risking ending up with Javy freakin Lopez. Are you kidding? Red Sox fans are worse than Yankee fans since 2004. Come on, RS... I love the Cubs, but Cubs fans are far worse than Red Sox fans. I don't know of a whinier fan base than the Cubs, and if we ever do win a World Series... I cannot imagine how obnoxious our fans would become. Heck, we're a laughingstock and still obnoxious. I have my problems with Cubs fans too.
  15. todd walker had a pretty sweet webgem on sportscenter today http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/gameday_recap.jsp?ymd=20060803&content_id=1591178&vkey=recap&fext=.jsp&c_id=sd (click on "walker's diving stop" on the right hand side

  17. Kasper said Murton tied the ML record for doubles in a game with 4. (he also said it's been accomplished quite a few times, once this year I believe too)
  18. Do you think that 28 year old Chone Figgins would be happy about coming to Chicago with Pie in the wings at CF and Aram at 3b(assuming all the contract stuff is taken care of)? The Cubs, should be at least thinking of dealing Pie for a impact bat, or starter. He is still only a "prospect". So you agree with Dusty in the belief that this team needs major leaguers/vets? No, but Pie is not guranteed to pan out in the big leagues. If a deal would would come across where Pie and someone else was packaged for a proven starter, or impact bat then I would strongly consider it. yay we finally agree
  19. The cubs should be jerks and claim him on waivers
  20. I wish it were possible to make Murton train "extra" hard to learn to play CF for next season.
