  1. 2 small sample sizes vs. 1 large sample size?
  2. not sure if this means anything, but his ld% and babip this season is nearly identical to his 2005, his career year. so this slump can't really be blamed on bad luck, can it? 2005: 16 LD% .248 BABIP 2007: 16.7 LD% .244 BABIP
  3. i'm sure if he was cubbie blue i'd love him, but boy do i sure hate roy oswalt. just look at the guy.
  4. according to soapy's stats jacque jones is just as good as murton
  5. i'm pretty sure lee got the same amount of votes in a weeked in 2005
  6. You probably couldn't do it.
  7. this lineup has been working the past 20ish games, just keep it as is
  8. if it means anything, on mlb 2k7 i somehow got the reds to accept a trade of murton + dempster for dunn and stanton. if that went through, i don't see why this couldn't go through.
  9. the cubs have a .714 ops against lefties and a .756 ops vs. righties.
  10. soriano vorp: 26.6 ramirez vorp: 23.4 soriano shouldn't be trailing by this much
  11. DA FONZ
  12. Just because Young likely threw at Lee doesn't mean he's not a good pitcher and not the most worthy, out of the Last Ballot candidates, of being in the All-Star game. Z isn't saying that Young's a great guy. All Z is saying is that Young has outpitched Z this year. Which is true. As far as the rest of it, what you said later is probably correct - that he's not best buds with some of his teammates. I don't think it matters who goes to whose house for cake and punch. I also don't think we can know who likes who and who doesn't. and most impotantly, who gives a carp? Not me. Abuck has some unkown reason to hate Zambrano. Keep it, it is your bricks to carry. Enjoy the load. Are you serious? Whenever people would criticize Z for being psycho, immature, a baby, etc. abuck was usually the 1st to defend him. I like how asking a legitimate question if his teammates dislike him turns into "abuck hates zambrano!".
  13. i left in the 10th inning of this game http://retrosheet.org/boxesetc/2003/B06250CHN2003.htm somewhere in the middle of this nonsense it was so hot in the bleachers, we were all miserable, and then that inning was happening so we got out of there.
  14. JON BESTED ME SO HE SHALL GO DOWN IN DEFEAT
  15. no offense to reds fans, but i don't think anything can save them for the forseeable future. i hope brenly stays.
  16. Actually a couple weeks ago, when we last had the "Soriano shouldn't be leading off" debate, Jon had some great posts that showed that the stats don't prove anything about whether he should lead off. He's been very up and down throughout his career. i thought the stats showed that, except for one season, his numbers as a leadoff hitter were significantly better than the other spots in the batting order. maybe you're right though.
  17. i changed it, did it work? and yes 5-5 is clutch no matter how you put it still 1-6 isn't a good day even with a game winner So if it's so easy to get at least 2 hits in 6 at bats then why doesn't everyone have at least a .333 batting average? And anyone that doesn't, they must not be "clutch". it's not about ba it's because he was 0-5 before that so it wouldn't be as bad if he started the game 1-5 and he made an out in the bottom of the 9th? i don't get the point you're making. is it a problem if someone doesn't get a hit their 1st 3 at bats, but finishes the game 2-5?
  18. i changed it, did it work? and yes 5-5 is clutch no matter how you put it still 1-6 isn't a good day even with a game winner yay, it worked. i agree 1 for 6 isn't a good day, but that one hit being in the bottom of the 9th with the bases loaded is clutch.
  19. for the love of god change your avatar anyways, isn't that the definition of clutch? getting a hit when it's important? wouldn't the other at-bats be unimportant? and soriano had a "clutch" 5 for 5 day on june 4th
  20. They are when you can hit 3-run homeruns. The thing is, the numbers indicate Soriano doesn't do well with runners on. Who's to say he hits those homers if there's someone on base? ah so you're your saying we have a 40-home run guy who can't do crap in the clutch. oh wait why'd we get him? remember soriano's unclutch walkoff a few days ago?
  21. They are when you can hit 3-run homeruns. in 2006 juan pierre gets a bunt hit, steals second, todd walker hits a grounder advancing him to third, derrek lee hits a sac fly, and everyone is ecstatic that juan pierre did his job and the cubs scored a run, even though it cost 2 outs. soriano says f that noise and hits a homerun to open the game. 0 outs are used, but soriano just wasted a homerun. like i said, i don't know what his deal is, but soriano is statistically proven to be more comfortable leading off. if you move him down the order, you're sacrificing production and you're probably not going to get many 3 run homeruns that you crave.
