    Twitters rumors stating the Padre's may want cubs to take on Hudsons contract.... If it means giving up little for Headley I am all for it. Use Hudson as 2B/3B backup or eat some contract and spin him off in a different deal.

Cubs send Soriano and 36 mil to A's for mid level minor league pitcher. Cubs sign Soler for 5/20. Cubs sign Kuroda for 2 yrs 28 mil, option for a 3rd yr. Cubs linked to Fielder heavily and will sign him a week following meetings. Zambrano and cash to marlins for coghlan and minor keaguer. Byrd, marwin gonzalez to nats for lannan.     Levine stated last week that McLeod was down there already and that Theo and Jed were coming in to see him on Monday and Tuesday. I'm starting to get the feeling we will be signing atleast one cuban free agent.

    I know it is Rogers speculation but what kind of return does Marmol have? Could he net Arencibia from the Jays giving the Cubs a chance to flip Soto in a package for a Gio Gonzales/Danks/Cahill type pitcher? What teams may be interested and what is he worth? If he returns to form he is well worth the contract versus other closers out there.

    I would start with Byrd and see whatelse they ask for, IF Sori gets moved i think it would have to be an AL team that is willing to take the chance.

    I would love to get Gio in the rotation. I think Szczur, Lake and McNutt/Cashner would do the trick. Would definitely kick tires on Cahill.

    I would have interest in either one, could a package including McNutt and Szczur be a sarting point to land both of them? Prado could play 3B or 2B correct?

    That was my conclusion... Cubs can get out from under ~$5M. I was more thinking teams would consider taking on probably a 3rd of the salary or close to 7 million to give anything up. I think the Cubs could get more than a B/C level prospect if they eat that amount but I think it just points out that keeping Z is best for this team.
