    Forget Fielder or Pujols we have LaHair! Joking.. Hoilman is the definition of all or nothing, that being said he has massive power and seems to walk alot. Could be worth watching.

    I want Epstein, Friedman, Beane before anyone else but it does not mean the Cubs "need" a big name. There are plenty of solid choices that could be the next Theo or Andrew. I just hope he does not give Colletti the job. I would much prefer Hahn, Levine, DePoto and maybe possibly Burns if the top 2 choices are gone. But yes listening to Chicago Media will be a time filler until the truth comes out. It is useless to speculate people being "out" if they have not even been officially pursued. Its almost like the Cubs are wanting to sign Pena for next year when the GM with the new direction has yet to be even named.

    I'll play Boston over Detroit in 4 - BoSox combo of pitching and offense cannot be stopped by BoSox NYY over Texas in 5 - Yanks come back from a 2-1 deficit to win in 5 Phillies over D'Backs in 4 - D'Backs sneak in playoffs due to feeble Giants offense and sneak away with game 2 over Cliff Lee! But then they go bye bye Braves over Brewers in 4 - Braves pitch their way past the Crew. Boston over Yankees in 6 - THHEEEEEEE YANKEEES LOSE Braves over Phillies in 7 - Braves shock the "world" with a series win over the Phils. Braves over Red Sox in 7 :-k Dunno why I just have a wierd feeling the Braves win it all. ALCS MVP - AGone NLCS MVP - Mccan World Series MVP - Dan Uggla

    LOL i love how Muskat knows that the future unnamed GM wants to re-sign Carlos Pena..... Sometimes media's "inside information" is such a joke. People are not seriously worried that this is the case right?

    2 players I want are Fielder and Wilson (no shocker), I would also like to monitor Swisher as well but I am sure the yanks will pick up the option on him. The dodgers situation interests me as well and I would be curious to hear their stance on Ethier, Feilder/Ethier would be unbelieveable even without Rammy coming back. Cannot wait for offseason to come...

    I still have a sneaking suspician that Hendry is gone. I dont put stock in what Nightengale says and several local media people have speculated he could be gone. That being said the Cubs fan in me is expecting the worst.

    Jackson's ability to draw walks makes him a very valuable player even if he hits .260.... I still think he is capable of hitting higher than that but the reason to be excited is the fact that he is showing plus power, plus speed, solid defense and the ability to get on base enough to hit in the top half of the order. I am very excited to see Castro, Jackson in the top part of the order for years to come.

    At this point I would see no reason why Ramirez is not worth more than Beltran based on health alone and have a better season. My guess is he could bring in a top 10 prospect packaged with another top 20 prospect and maybe more depending on how much salary the cubs eat.

    I would be willing to talk to Oakland about Geo Gonzalez, there has been speculation in the past he may be trade bait. Probably a Garza"like" package but if the Cubs draft and international scouting of late gives you an idea of upcoming talent he may be worth it.

    Not sure why he would be available but if I am the Cubs and I am wanting to compete next year I would definitely monitor this situation.

    Didn't his dad post here in the past? I really thought he was going to be a solid back end rotation guy for the Cubs prior to the trade.

    What do people expect Hendry to say? The cubs will be very active up until the deadline and will place a few players on waives who are not trade (Soriano, maybe Z). The cubs will have ridiculous amounts of money available next year and have some great pieces to build around (Marshall, Castro, Garza, Marmol(i still would trade high), Soto. My approach would be: Push hard to trade Soriano, Grabow Trade Byrd Trade Pena Trade Ramirez IF it brings back 2 good/great prospects or a solid starter, if not do not trade him and work out a 2yr deal. Trade Wood if he approves and is willing to return after the season. Trade Marmol, he is worth a ton right now and could be the biggest trade chip the Cubs have. Trade Baker, Johnson and high upside prospect Trade Dempster In the offseason Fire Quade Set up to Make a run at Fielder Keep an eye on the Dodgers if players become available use prospects to go after Kemp or Ethier Keep an eye on the Garza type pitchers available, also keep an eye on CC's opt out deal. find a more powerful productive 2B, example: Kelly Johnson type player. Resign RJ as 4th/5th OF tough to project what or who will be available.

    I would not mind seeing Brenly in the dugout considering the season does not matter but it is not going to happen and if the Cubs are replacing Quade after this year there are better options out there.

    per mlbtr: I love Rammy and believe the Cubs could use him next year but if he will at all waive in NTC i think the Cubs would bring in a lot of talent for him. Seattle would really interest me if you could get 2 of Liddi, Walker, and Franklin back.

    Very unlikely this game resumes. Roan got his info from the White Sox head groundskeeper. So unless you have access to a radar that someone who does this for a living can't get, the game will resume. Stepped away from TV good to hear, I hope I am wrong just going off of accuweather radar and typical bad luck :)
