  1. I get more sick of Ryan Dempster everytime I watch him pitch. He sure does talk a good game when he talks about playing one game at a time and playing hard for the rest of the year. He is either worn out or has mentally given up. Less talk, more action Ryan.
  2. Marmol is just trying to help the Cubs record in one run games.
  3. One out, no one on base and a 1-2 count on the hitter turns into this because Marmol can't throw strikes.
  4. It would be very interesting to see Dunn play for the Cubs. For the pure numbers guys, will anything change watching him play every day. For the "old school" fans, will they appreciate the other things he does when he strikes out 175 times. Like others, I'd rather see Fielder or Adrian Gonzalez, but if Dunn is available at the right price he would be hard to pass up. I don't think it would take a four year deal. He had to settle for a 2 year deal with Washington and now he is two years older so its hard to believe the market is going to much different this time around.
  5. I thought Lou retired yesterday. Surely Quade is smarter than placing the guy who gets on base more than anyone in the 8th spot. And while I don't think Colvin is a serious contender for 1B next year, there is no reason for Xavier Nady to play there anymore. Let the kid play 1B to see if he can handle it. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
  6. Of all the utility players Hendry has acquired over the years, it looks like this is the one he should have kept.
  7. I don't care what any of the numbers say, I certainly hope the Cubs don't plan Wells being anything more than a guy competing for the 5th spot in the rotation next year.
  8. This is exactly why Lou should have been sent home. There is absolutely no reason to play Koyie Hill everyday while Soto is on the DL. Come on Ricketts, step to the plate and do something about this crap. Not that I want him micro managing, but with a team this bad, the message should be crystal clear - guys like Hill, Nady and Baker should not be playing. Does it really matter whether they finish 15 games out or 25 games out?
  9. The immortal Ryan Hannigan gives the Reds a 2-0 lead after the Cubs lefthanded starting pitcher walks another lefthanded hitter. After the homer, a walk to the pitcher. This team is really fun...
  10. Meanwhile, Lou sticks with his worst two hitters at 3 and 4. :banghead: Gee, I wonder why the offense struggles. Please Ricketts just give Lou a check and send him home after the game.
  11. Mark it down - the epic comeback to win the division has started!!! Ok, I'm kidding. But it is nice to see them string together a few hits and then get a home run. Not many innings like this one in 2010.
  12. Cubs rally to take the lead. Stop the presses. It is funny the players not making the big $$$ come through while the two high paid veterans can't. Posted before Ramirez at bat...
  13. At least Castro continues to be a bright spot for the Cubs.
  14. Blame Dempster for the double to Hart, not for not getting 4 outs I think the point is, Baker should not even had to worry about making a play. Retire the damn pitcher and the inning is over. Or at least make the pitcher hit the ball to keep the inning alive.
  15. Two outs and a runner on third and Dempster walks the opposing pitcher on 4 pitches. Unbelievable.
  16. 3 up, 3 down on 11 pitches after you give up 5 runs. Classic. Lou, do yourself a favor and stay in Tampa there really is no point on coming back.
  17. I don't get WCIU so I thought I take a break from working in my basement and would get online to check the game. Wow another struggling offense pounds cubs pitching. Will Larry survive another managerial change? I would like to thank the Cubs for helping my marriage. Since they suck so bad, I have time to accomplish things on the "honey do" list thus making a more peaceful household. Time to go back to the basement. Thanks guys.
  18. I really don't know what to say anymore about how the Cubs handle these things. But count me as a person who would rather see Zambrano put back in the rotation and left alone. Unless another team is going to take the entire contract like the White Sox did with Alex Rios, then keep him and try to get the best out of him.
  19. Good job Mr. Russell. Only giving up one run in that situation is not bad at all.
  20. I guess the "win it for Lou" rally cry didn't last too long.
  21. Double switch in the 5th inning. Not that I am mad about Theriot getting yanked out of the game, but it is hilarious to see Lou making this move so early.
  22. You the man Ryan Dempster! Veteran leadership at its finest.
  23. Maybe its just me, but most of his starts seem to be this way lately. I never count on him having a good game. He seems to have an inning or two every start where he can't get out of his own way.
  24. I guess that means the Rangers are not interested in Theriot. Damn!
