  1. You have to be kidding me. Stupid humidor. Lee hits one 380+ feet and it doesn't get out of the park.
  2. Another good at bat by the one and two hitters. Now, can the rest of the line-up be a little more patient. Come on D Lee!
  3. Great at bat Theriot. What is he thinking? And now we get to see Aaron Miles, yipee. Oh well, at least we don't have to worry about seeing him later in the game. Another fantastic at bat. Come on Hendry release that piece of crap.
  4. The Cards were losing 4-3. They get a two out game tying pinch hit from Khalil Greene in the 7th. Then an infield hit from Holliday, a stolen base and error followed by a sac fly to take the lead in the 8th. Then a pinch hit leadoff double in the 9th, a sac bunt and another sac fly for a 6-4 lead. Carpenter battles through 8 innings. The Cubs meanwhile have their starting pitcher scratched, blow a golden chance in the first inning and watch a the Rockies pound emergency starter Sean Marshall. Great night so far.
  5. Cubs.com says Victor Zambrano was scratched from his start. Nice job.
  6. One damn at bat and I am reminded why I never want to see Aaron Miles in a Cubs uniform again.
  7. What do think the chances were that Soriano would see a single fastball if he had Aaron Miles and Koyie Hill batting behind him? Like Fontenot and Hill are much better? If you were a pitcher, would you ever throw Soriano a fastball? For guys like him it doesn't matter who bats before or after him.
  8. I get a kick out of how Blanco, an actual shortstop, has only been given one start lately but when Miles comes back he gets thrown right in there. Screw these veterans. All you owe them is the paycheck. Don't get me wrong, I want the Cubs to win but I almost hope Miles makes a key error and has an 0-4 leaving runners on each time. What will it take for them to just release him? How can Hendry or Lou look Stevens in the eye and tell him he has to go back to the minors because the GM gave a wide receiver a ridiculous contract. Didn't Hendry always say "we are in the earn it business" when talking about Felix Pie? But that has never been the case with any other player. Not that Pie would have been anything more than what he is, but with the line-up they had, they should have been able to live with a young kid in CF who could play very good defense.
  9. Cubs need to sweep and at least split with Colorado. I hope the Cubs have a patient offensive approach tomorrow night. They need to pound this guy and get Harden a few runs early.
  10. Gorzelanny was fantastic. I hope he can duplicate the effort the next time he takes the bump. But this bullpen better get their act together, they can't afford to keep giving up runs against bad offensive teams.
  11. Is it asking too much to have a 1-2-3 easy 9th inning from ANY Cubs pitcher?
  12. DeRosa flies out to center. Pujols up with 2 outs and a guy on first. New York will regret giving K-Rod the contract they gave him.
  13. K-Rod with a blown save in New York and will probably have to face Pujols.
  14. Fontenot owes Koyie Hill dinner! Great job by Gorzo as well. Nice to see the offense give young Tom a few runs to work with.
  15. Wow, double play in the top of the inning and horrible error in the bottom of the inning. Not Theriot's best inning. Anyway, the bad thing about his error is it allowed Cueto to bat so now Dusty doesn't have to think about pinch hitting for him next inning. Offense needs to be patient and run that pitch count up because Cueto is pitching pretty good tonight.
  16. At some point you just have to admit the mistake and release Miles. Blanco is the best defensive infielder the Cubs have so when they send him back down, I hope the writers harass Lou to the point of tantrum about why Fox couldn't play 3rd every day why Ramirez was out, but yet they are willing to forego defense for Aaron F'in Miles. The truth is, for anyone on the Cubs to say they value defense is a joke. A GM that signs Soriano and Bradley to play the outfield and does not upgrade the shortstop position doesn't care about defense. Tonight, Lou could have started Fuld in CF and Fukudome in RF to give Wells a better defense. Since Bradley can't hit left handed there really is no reason for him to start and weaken the outfield defense.
  17. That is priceless. But Jake, was it really that bad being on the Padres that you didn't want to see what might happen 4 or 5 months from now. Since he was traded early in a long term deal, can he become a free agent after next year? But then again, with as much money as he is going to get why worry about becoming a free agent.
  18. Yea but whos going to score runs for them? Good point. Ozzie Ball! You know, sit back and wait for the three run homer. They lose Thome's contract and Dye's contract so they should have some money to acquire some offense. I am kind of surprised Peavy accepted the trade or maybe the White Sox actually had to guarantee the last year of the deal.
  19. Why would Cincinnati make a move like this? I didn't think Jocketty would go there and start trading young players for high priced veterans. I guess this is what happens when you have a veteran manager who does not want to go through a rebuilding process.
  20. New member here. Hello everyone. You have to hand it to Kenny Williams, he always seems to come up with something. Peavy, Buehrle, Danks and Floyd that is one heck of a rotation for the next few years.
