  1. It sure would have been nice to see Fukudome pinch hit for Nady because we all know Lou would have pinch hit for Fukudome if they brought in a lefty to face him. Plus it is possible Nady will come out for defense going to the 8th inning.
  2. What is embarrassing is the manager even thinking about a sacrifice bunt with anyone other than the pitcher batting in the bottom of the 6th inning in a tie game. Why would you even think about only playing for one run?
  3. Why in the world would you be bunting in a 6-6 game in the bottom of the 6th inning. For Pete's sake Lou, please quit.
  4. The three "coldest" hitters batting 3-4-5. I can't stand the all right handed line-up either. It is funny how balance is important when a right hander is pitching but not when a lefty is pitching.
  5. 36 seconds later and Kris Versteeg makes it 2-0 Hawks!
  6. Cody Ross and Gaby Sanchez? Is this really happening? Troy Brouwer gives the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead!
  7. Cubs just can't pull a deep flyball tonight.
  8. Nice, quick 1-2-3 inning by Caridad. That is good to see.
  9. One thing about the 8th inning, Byrd's fly ball was a routine out. Theriot should have went back to tag right away instead of going half way. Not to say he could have made it to second on the throw, but it would be nice to be prepared if the ball would have bounced away from the catcher.
  10. Swung at ball 3. That foul ball would have been a 3 run homer in Houston. Damn deep fould lines at Wrigley.
  11. No score at the end of the first period of the Blackhawks game. Who else has a good feeling about Aram right now?
  12. Fontenot rarely bunts, yet the 3rd baseman was playing in on the grass. That is interesting. Fake rally time? Let's hope for the real thing this time!
  13. The Cubs found some good luck! Come on Aram, tie this game up and then Sori can give them the lead.
  14. Was it supposed to be a hit and run? With the pitcher? He was squared around to bunt, pulled the bat back and swung so it would seem Lou might have tried something. Who knows. LaRussa pulls it off 3 or 4 times a year. Maybe Lou was trying to surprise them.
  15. Bad luck for Geo tonight, two balls crushed to center. That was a nice play by Maybin. I have the pleasure of going to the game tomorrow with some friends from work. I guess it will be Koyie Hill time because of a day game after a night game, even though the Cubs have Thursday off.
  16. A random story while watching another uninispiring Cub effort. During the 2007 Cubs Convention (Lou's first) my buddy asked him a question about fundamentals and giving a complete effort when players have guaranteed contracts. Lou's response was "My teams are sound fundamentally and will hustle. That won't be an issue. And although they have guaranteed contracts, I have the pencil and make out the line-up card." I think about that quote from Lou quite often.
  17. That was a very nice 3-6-3 double play. Starlin looks a lot more comfortable tonight.
  18. I find it funny how every road team seems to be able to adjust to the conditions better than the Cubs. So far this year, the Cubs only hit indoors or when the weather is warm and wind is blowing out. They have never won a world series at Wrigley, yet too many fans relish the park and the new owner seems to be happier to have the ballpark than the actual team.
  19. Hey Randy, the wind isn't blowing in that hard. My God this team is pathetic.
  20. Fukudome leads off with a single and doesn't move. The Marlins get a one out walk and then a two out, two run homer. Then Ramirez and Soto hit deep drives to center that are only loud outs tonight. That pretty much typifies the Cubs season so far.
  21. What better way to distract from a horrible product than by having fans criticize one another about booing. The next step is for someone associated with the team to complain about the booing. Every player/coach/front office person should have the same attitude as Soriano about booing. "If I play better they will cheer." The Cubs have the highest average ticket price in the league so why shouldn't fans expect a better product. They are being charged for prime rib and are getting hamburgers. I know it is a supply/demand thing, but would the team prefer fans who express their anger in a smarter way like not buying tickets? Castro was the target because of a play in which he compounded a physical error by not hustling to the ball and allowing a runner to take 2nd base. But let's be honest, it would not have surprised any of us if any other player did the same thing. That to me is the bigger problem with this team. There should be a higher level of accountability. There is no excuse for the lack of effort.
  22. For those keeping track at home. Lou went with the "what are you gonna do" script for his postgame press conference. And he is sick of talking about his hitters not hitting. Lou, we are sick of it all!
